My son and I started off in Hauser with some nice cloud cover caught a few here and there on crawler, Rapala #5, Flukes and Senkos. We had about 25 by mid morning but it started getting hot with full sun and kinda slowed down. We checked some of the steep rock walls and tried a little deeper for 1 or 2. Then hit the back of Hauser (boy that sure has dried up since our last visit in May) nothing caught back there.

I decided to head back to where we started in that last cove on the right towards the end of Hauser. We saw some clouds and then it started rain on us (thank god it was hot) we picked off a few working the rocks and trees. Then we found it, the whole cove full of bait! We anchored up in casting distance to the occasional busters and it went full speed on Roostertails and nail weighted flukes, when they stopped eating the Rooster we would switch to fluke back and forth for hours. When we had not caught a fish in 15 mins or so my son decided to try the wacky senko, I kinda laughed at him but whatever try it. So after he caught 5 fish in 5 casts I tied one on. The wacky senko entered the rotation.

We ended the day with 108 bass 15 giant bluegill and 1 crappie and yes there were a few dinks in that count but the cove produced 2-4 plus pounders consistantly it was so EPIC a day we will never forget. The only thing I forgot was my fricken scale.

Thanks to all you guys that post reports regularly and to POURBOY for answering my DM before we went (we never hit that area) but appreciate the reply.

Ive killed bass on RTs in other places but not Barrett. Makes sense though with the hatch being tiny. Smart play to throw them!!
