Re: What knot is the strongest for minijig
Palomar. Simple as that. Never in my entire life of fishing have I ever used any other knot from 250 pound pelagic species to largemouth bass to trout to tiny micro panfish.

Gate opening time, water clarity?
Hey all. First off, happy that this forum is here. Cudos to whoever started it.
First Barrett trip of the year tomorrow. Curious what time they've been opening the gate and what's the water clarity? Rigging up and pinching barbs today just want to be ready.
Thanks.
Ernie

Re: CAMPGROUND 4 MILES FROM THE BARRETT ENTRANCE!
I usually leave my house in Pasadena around 2:00 am to arrive at Barrett around 4:30am. Last year, for one of our trips, we drove down the evening before and pitched a tent at Skyline Ranch. It was easy, really nice, quiet, inexpensive, like 5 minutes from Barrett, had an excellent clean bathroom ...

Barrett RFeport( video) Saturday 7-8
Barrett from Saturday 7-8. Morning bite a little tough for us but once they started busting in the middle of Hauser it was on. Throw into a boil and its cant miss. Better quality fish came mostly shallower. Busters lasted around 2 hours tops.Enjoy the clip I put together. https://youtu.be/7zztgKmuLzE

It was a great day on Sunday. We caught 70 fish with most between 2 to 4 lbs. We fished the very back of Hauser where the water was 67. Green pumpkin chaterbaits with a small pumpkin fluke, Mega bass jerkbaits and 1/16 oz Hookup baits in natural shad, watermelon/red flake Paca craw, texas rigged ...

Re: How's the Pine Creek arm?
Yea very interested to hear how it goes!
Pine was fine, but hear Hauser was too. We got on some schools busting bait up against rocky steeps and did most of our damage on reapers and minnows on small ball jigs. Biggest 3.3lbs. But also got some with senkos outside the first brush line. 44 for ...

Drive down from Torrance so better for me to get there earlier and catch a few hours sleep in the truck.

Myself and a old friend managed to hit Barrett this weekend...but only for around 4 hours from the bank. Still super fun. Ended with around 25 between us mostly on Flukes, Ikas and texes rigged Robo's. The lake never disappoints.

OK - Who wants to fly fish Barrett next Friday??
Yes, that is not a typo - Friday May 12th when the lake is closed!
So here's the deal - I'm outings coordinator for a local fly fishing club, and for the past several years I've jumped through hoops and rented the whole damn lake. You got that right - 60 people will have the whole lake to ourselves ...

Barrett report May 7th
Hi all,
Had a great day at Barrett. Water is only 65, I don't know why it expected it to be warmer. Speaking of temperature, at 0430 it was 36 degrees F in the air. That makes you wide awake even if you weren't while in your warm vehicle.
Almost 30 total fish today. Mostly on an underspin jig ...
