7/29-Return to Murray

Post by VinnyBass »

Been a long time(June 21) since I actually fished on the water at Murray. Besides being out sick and a few other ailments added to the fact they lowered the water where I could not launch my boat, it was nice to actually get back on the water this morning. Threw topwater baits and reaction baits on busting fish and no takers. It was maddening! I made tons of cast and it took close to 3 hours before I finally caught a little bass. I continued to toss reaction baits as the bass were still popping up here and there and not one more fish.
Then went around and metered some more shad balls and somehow hit a small jackpot. I say small, because most of the bass were clones, but there was an amazing bite going on in about 25-30' of water on spoons. The time stamp on my photos on my phone told it all as besides 3 bass coming unbuttoned on the jump, I was able to land 13 bass in a few minutes over a hour(9:56a.m to 11:05a.m.) as the bass were feeding on shad down deep. Added a couple more as this suddenly became an exciting morning and I ended up landing 16 bass. I never had such a drastic change in luck as I only had landed one bass when my buddy Larry left the lake. I told him I was going to stick around to see if I could at least catch a second bass. About 15 minutes later, the bass were on the chew.

The rest were a bunch of smaller clones....

In fishing…Nothing is guaranteed......because if I left when my buddy Larry left I would have only caught one small bass.
Water level is up and boats are able to launch now. Just have to be careful not to gun it when putting your boat back up on the tailer as the water level is not quite up where it used to be and you don't want to hit your prop on the ramp.

It actually was location, timing and being very fortunate that in just over an hour the bass were suddenly biting as I only had one
other bite and bass in just over 3 1/2 hours of fishing. Speaking of location I see that you cashed my check for one of your secret
spots at Sutherland and I am yet to receive your check for 2 spots at Lake Miramar. I hope I do not have to call the Law Brothers
as it is getting closer to the time to escalate the situation to small claims court. Tight lines always :-)

The Law Brothers only care if you're hit by a semi truck...don't care about your low budget law suits...

I do have a few old fishing buddies who use cinderblocks as weights that will be up in your area next week :-)
