Miramar morning jumpers

Post by vito1023 »

Hey guys, just went to Miramar on Tuesday. Second time fishing the lake I meant to get there early but Siri couldn’t give me the directions she kept coming up with Lake San Marcus. I kept saying lake Miramar, she kept coming back with Lake San Marcus so I was a half hour late, finally found the lake easy launch, there was only three boats out and we went straight across to the first Cove by the damn and {BASS} jumping out of the water all over the place, threw everything at em, top water, drop shot, jerk bait finally, my buddy picked one up on a small 2 1/2 inch Berkeley soft minnow, he gave me one of his as I couldn’t seem to get one on anything I threw, I hooked up with a small pound and a half bass, about 11 o’clock all the jumping around was over so we went and checked around the whole lake for nothing total three Bass for the day off the lake by 1:00 I have to say I could see this Lake being one of my favorites even though I haven’t fished Murray a lot it reminds me a lot of Murray only with toulies lined up and down the whole lake (toulie heaven). Thanks for all the help I’ve gotten in the past from many of you.

I also was hoping some one could help with finding someone who works on a Suzuki two-stroke 20 hp engine for my friends boat, he can only get the speed up to barely anything. He flushed the out carburetor, ran some SeaFoam, changed fuel lines, nothing helped. He doesn’t really know a lot about boats either. So we need to find someone who can work on this engine as we’re having a problem finding shops that work on his engine, we need to get it fixed so we can hit up bigger Lakes, like Otay, El Cap, we only wanted to go out to Miramar so we could run that foam through the engine and hopefully it would’ve cleaned it out. Apparently it needs something else and help with that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ahead for any help

Does the motor rev up to high RPMs in neutral? Then bogs in gear?

I was just wondering. I could be a diaphragm pump? You can pump the primer ball while you try to increase speed to see if that helps?

How are the plugs?

Does it run better with the choke on?
You can pull the carb and run a welder tip cleaner through the jets and them hit them with compressed air. If the boat sat for a long time, this could be the issue. No fuel additive will get them unclogged.

Has he had the boat long?

Did it rev up to full throttle before?
Has he added a lot of weight to the boat?
I say this because you would be surprised what a prop that is too tall will do.

Sounds like it could be in limp mode depending on the year and ignition components. It’s pretty wild how flooded SD is with boats and marine recreation and how few reputable small engine marine mechanics there are.

Avoid welding rod cleaner tips through brass jets as it can/will distort or enlarge the jet hole. Use carb cleaner, followed by contact cleaner followed by compressed air.

There are a number of factors that can prevent an outboard from revving out. Timing, fuel, air, ignition, height of outboard in the water, prop damage…

Good luck on your quest.

Thanks for both of your posts so you don’t work on them?
He’s had it for a while ten years or so and he put new spark plug
New fuel ball and line and that SeaFoam
Thanks for your help
