Wed 7/10 scorcher

Got on the water @4:30 with Dave and Steve, and it was already 70 degrees! The water is down @10 feet since two weeks ago, headed to Becky’s. For the first 2-3 hours I got skunked, which was really puzzling, Dave wasn’t doing great either. The lower water must’ve drove the bass deeper and the green algae bloom didn’t help. I finally found a crawler pattern @7 am. Along the rock wall, managed to get @15 healthy bass 2-3 lb. Headed back to the end of Hauser and you feel the heat coming, with no wind it was muggy and hot . Didn’t really see a lot of busters, lots of dead trees back of Hauser, did get another couple more, biggest was 4.9 on the popper. Left @ noon when the wind was howling, got drenched crossing main lake.

Glad you made it in seeing as you stuck it out till noon. I left at 10 and the wind was sending waves over my bow. Managed 14 on my usual, and only 2 drinks on popper.

Yea that wind was no joke, luckily i have a motor.

I had to leave at 0900 and it was already hot and the wind was starting. Fishing is tough, with water level, turbidity ( mostly algae bloom, I think) and the wind seems to be coming up earlier.

Thanks to Chuck finding a pattern with the crawlers, I got a few also. The popper, wakebait and walking bait just weren't noisy enough to make a difference yesterday. Also I started with a Heddon Crazy Crawler and didn't get anything until I switched to the larger Pompadour. Chuck was fishing an even bigger crawler from Raid ( See his first posted picture )

But, there's a band of fish just below the reach of the crankbaits I had in the kayak. I spun through it a couple times to make it's fish and not noise or some bizarre thermocline. The right deep diving crankbait might be the ticket. I'll post what I learn on my next trip to the site.
