Skunk sesh

I finally found this forum after missing the old site since it shut down. Today I went out to my usually fishy rocky spot in MB and aside from two short strikes, had no action in 2 hrs of fishing. Sun came out at the end and cleared up the water. though I can usually see some action around the rocks ...

https://youtu.be/LrN1YwqKhOw

Hey all I hope you’re getting out there and finding the fish wherever you are. I did get out Sunday to tidelands to launch the float tube. I had an idea in mind to fish Corvina and BFS bass. That being said, I threw out my BFF ...

Re: Speaking of Tidelands…

Looks like a fun day on the bay, love your videos.
I’ve been using Owner single hooks for awhile now and have put them on almost all my lures,, I don’t feel like it hinders hook ups in fact I think it increases my hookups because as you said you can slip them through grass and rock cover without ...

Unexpected day in O'side

Thursday I decided to test iout my boat after doing some work to the motor. I wasnt expecting doing much fishing due to the tide was going out and I found they were dredging the mouth of the harbor. Fishing during the dredging I have found is not the ideal time to fish much less that the tide was ...

Bay Fishing Planning

Hello,

I’m looking for direction in regards to planning fishing trips for SD Bay and Mission Bay. From the material that I read both bays fish differently.

What are the best times and tides for these bays? What’s the best way to fish them ?

SD Bay silver lining 4/26

Fished yesterday solo. Caught a handful of bass. At 11 I hooked a better fish, felt like a halibut. Turned out to be my first ever butterfly ray. The wind was really gusting after lunch. I got my butt handed to me on the way in, roughest trip back I can remember in the bay. I didn’t have any ...

Re: Bay Fishing Planning

Like others have said, moving water is better.
I mostly fish San Diego Bay.
There are lots of tide charts out there; I use Tides4Fishing because I am used to it. And I like seeing a tide graph, which can tell you visually when the water's moving faster....which is a bigger deal for me because I'm ...

Re: Spotted Bay Bass Fishing Tips

That says it all, great job thanks for all your work it must have taken awhile.
I just kept notes for a few years. I find that if I write down what I know about a subject (fishing related or not) or teach it to someone else , I get much better at it as it forces me to think thru what I know and ...

5/22 Mission Bay

I went fishing 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.. caught 9 Bass. Biggest ones were 15 inches. The other ones were like 10 inches. Tried the free rig, sometimes I didn't know I had a fish on till I reeled up, lost a few not having a good hook set.

Re: 5/22 Mission Bay

Do you think the free rig is any better than a jighead and soft plastic for spotties? I have tried it and didn't see an advantage.

Soft Plastics

What plastics are you guys using on neck-breakers? I currently use Keitechs and while catching plenty of fish on them, sometimes it’s one fish per bait. I do repair them as much as possible but just looking for other more durable baits.

Favorite Bay Fishing Podcasts?

Need something to scratch the itch while I'm at work. I found the Cast and Crank podcast on Spotify and really enjoyed their episodes focused on San Diego/Mission Bay, shore fishing, local companies, etc.

Re: Guilty bystander

Yeah, it is. To me homemade means "of your own design". There's nothing proprietary about my chatterbaits, they're made with parts available online. Even my current jig heads are available online. My spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are still made on a custom mold and many of my trailers are of my own ...
