Unexpected day in O'side

Post by 1Fishdude »

Thursday I decided to test iout my boat after doing some work to the motor. I wasnt expecting doing much fishing due to the tide was going out and I found they were dredging the mouth of the harbor. Fishing during the dredging I have found is not the ideal time to fish much less that the tide was almost ebbed. I had brought with me a bfs rod and I had a 3" kietech swimbait with a 1/8 oz ball head. I worked that bait drifting with the tide from the main channel towards the rocks in 12 feet of water and on my first cast landed a small halibut. I started my drift again with the same bait and continued this procedure for the next hour and a half boating six halibut all were shorts but it was fun.

Thanks for the post, those Hali’s look close to legal, maybe the dredging helps move the fish?

When they dredge the outside opening to Sd bay, the halibut fishing turns on fire.
