In my experience, freshwater fish taste has a lot to do with the body of water they come from. Colder bodies definitely taste much better. One of the best fish tacos I ever ate in my life was calico bass. It was also prepared by a 6 figure salary chef aboard an 18million private sport fisher. Lol

I imagine the people who managed these reservoirs when they were built didn’t have the same worldview as the people who manage them now. The people running them now are more concerned with what kind of stick figure is on the bathroom doors at the reservoirs instead of how much water is in them.

50’s? I would imagine it was a drought year if the lake was that low??? San Diego population was no where near today’s. Maybe they pumped all the water in the oceans back then too? Different times today

A lot of funny things with our local reservoirs compared to virtually everywhere else. It’s an absolute JOKE. Go big CA government, where your best interest is the last thing on their mind.

Those small lakes are on a private ranch. Sky valley Ranch. I’m close with the owners. Not a place you wanna go sneaking around in. They are their own sheriff.That’s why I post a lot of Barrett pics from the honor camp side because that’s part of their driveway

For the c rig, I use a #6 mosquito and tie a snell knot. That’s for the gulp sand worm and sand crab.

A lot of carp bycatches on live bait. They love dads. One time, while catfishing at the river, my bro caught a 40lb carp on an 8” goldfish.
