Re: Anthropomorphism and why fish bite lures

For me, it does not matter what a lure may look like, or imitates, but if it is catching bass on YouTube videos,
I must admit I am one of the suckers that feels I just have to have that lure....ha ha ...

Re: Favorite lure of 2025?

After a few years of refusing to jig a minnow, 2025 I decided to learn the process. I tried various minnow style baits, jig heads and retrieves.
I was very successful most of the year and got to admit, doubled even tripled my catch counts.
Seemed as though the fish were starting to see it too much ...

Re: Favorite lure of 2025?

The Favorite Lure in 2025 and several years now for me was the Tackle Warehouse Website...luring me to buy
more lures than I need. ha ha
https://www.tacklewarehouse.com
:-)

Actually caught some of my biggest bass this year on Senkos and Brush hogs.

Re: $2 fee

Agree, it is much easier to charge by the vessel than by the number of passengers. Similarly, parking is charged by the vehicle, toll roads charge by the vehicle, car registration is charged by the car and not by the number of passengers.

Anybody remember sneaking into the drive in in the trunk ...

This was my 1st car... The trunk was large enough to get 3 large guys into the drive-in or Lions Drag Strip...

Re: $2 fee

A little bit of carbon monoxide in the trunk from a leaky exhaust never hurt anyone, right? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

We were never accused of being too smart. ;) …. We did survive our idiocy though.. Even if my accomplices did not live long lives.. 3 of the 4 passed many years ...

Fun Catches of 2025. Share yours...

With hardly any new posts lately, I decided to try to stir up things up a little.
I normally would not do this, but just felt that hopefully this post may inspire some
of you to PLEASE share some of your fun catches in 2025.

While none of my bass broke the 10lb range(what's new?),
I did catch 3 ...

Gotfish? wrote: Sat Jan 03, 2026 6:21 pm Looks like the same fish over and over to me, just different lighting and backgrounds. I see Vinny even changed his shirt for some of the pics.
Not the same fish…. I could’ve made bigger pictures of each one so you could see things better but that would be a crazy waste of space. :-)

Nothing spectacular this year...
This one was notable because it was the first trip after a big medical issue....and was just happy to get back out there. A fat stocker from Tuff Campground, near Tom's Place, caught using a homemade spinner and some Oxford commas.

Is that bear right off the side of the boat? If so, looks like he could have crawled aboard.

Yes the brown bear is right next to the boat. The last day in Alaska we did the fly out trip on float plane/ bear viewing and red salmon fishing. The bears would come close enough to the boat while ...

Re: Fish recipes

Been making fish cakes recently as I try to eat my way through the whitefish in my freezer from an inshore fishing trip a month or so ago.

Pretty simple recipe. Steam the filets for 5-6 minutes until opaque and the fish flakes easily. Add to bowl with a couple tablespoons of breadcrumbs (I prefer ...
