Re: San V Saturday 5-20-23
Good job Sir! Sutherland has definitely been a struggle this year, sometimes a change of lakes or baits can give you a real boost! Congrats on braving the Saturday crew and getting some fish too...nice!

San V...summer coming!
You can't tell by the cold, drizzly weather..but the fish told me today! I thought for some reason when I hit San V on Monday morning, that I could take up where I left off two Mondays ago..wrong, wrong, wrong! I started flipping senkos between the brush in 4'-6' of water and soon realized that the ...

Re: San V...summer coming!
It is always kind of crazy when a pattern works and then you find yourself sticking to it way too long when it doesn't work. You know it is hard not to stick to it as it has worked before and I have found me doing that many times and then switching to something else that works and thinking...geez ...

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
I have a 8' ultralight rod that I bought 20 years ago just for throwing baby sluggos, fin-s, and zoom tiny flukes at San V. The rod is more similar to my fly rods than a bass rod. When the fish are in the top of the water column, those baits can't be beat! I've landed fish up to 8lb on that combo ...

Re: It's official
Very frustrating and confusing! The lake looks so good and is fishing so bad!! After fishing it for the last 3 months, it actually seems to be getting worse..if that's possible! I'm not sure the 1'-2' water visibility is helping! In 6 hours, I covered alot of shoreline, flipped a bunch of bushes ...

Re: San V 5-27
The San V fish have bailed on the shallows, try dropshotting off boulders in 15'-25'...they are out there! There are mostly small fish in the shallows left over from the spawn, better fish offshore! The busting schools really haven't got going yet..the silversides must still be deep!

Re: Lake Hodges Re-Opener
Love Hodges. One of the reaction bait lakes in SD as far as I’m concerned. Hundreds of square bill, crankbait, chatter bait and blade fish caught there over the years including my 2 biggest fish 10.3 and a 10.4 caught during a tourney. I hope to find my way there this weekend
I've always felt ...

San V Monday chow time...
20230605_092419.jpg June gloom..just what the fish ordered! Water temp 70-73, air temp not that nice! A stiff breeze blowing most of the day. I got on a solid pattern right from the start, working a dropshot in 15'-20', off steeper banks with rocks! I brought 23 fish to the boat, not counting a few ...

Re: San V Monday chow time...
It's a little green..not as bad as 2 weeks ago..Water is still coming down the aquaduct... if that water is still coming from Sutherland, it's water visibility is about one foot!Slater wrote: Mon Jun 05, 2023 9:10 pm Killing it...
Water looks stained / green compared to the San V I remember...?

I remember you telling me you got your rods shortly after the Korean War. They sure have held up well. :-)

Re: Can you believe it? San Vicente Jun 5th
I was starting to worry, I hadn't seen you out at San V this season! I asked a couple friends and no sign of you! Glad to see you could make it out there and continue hammering those gills!
