Sounds about right. Limits of 2-4lb fish. Weights at the Cap slightly higher last weekend with big kickers.
Not many fish over 4lbs in San V anymore..definitely not going to be remembered as the good ol days!

Re: El Cap 2-24 Can’t Complain! With a PSA

Thanks for the PSA, but for some of us the damage was done back in the 60s-70s..too much fishing, surfing, and golfing before sunscreen came around! I've done the sunscreen routine for the last 40 years and it hasn't kept me out of the doctors office. I fear that in the future they will learn more ...

Re: 2/25 Otay & 2/26 Murray

Thanks Vinny.I was wondering about Otay. Almost never see reports from there recently.

Glad you got some.

I was kind of overwhelmed by the water level at Otay when I got there. There is so much new cover to fish
and I was not planning to be there long so decided to just head down a little ...

Re: San V 2/26 Way better than I expected.

Very nice! Good to see there's still at least one seven in the V. I'm a big believer in small baits catching big fish..an easy meal! I know Vinny is gonna want to fight me over that comment!

Nice fish...but I caught 2 just like that, I just chose to release them..when they jumped! Amazing how I had no problem landing the other 6 micro-bass! Don't make plans to launch a boat here this summer, not happening!

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

Wow. The lake and water management in this county is appalling.

I think it's more on the lines of moronic. Who ever is in charge of these districts clearly is missing a couple chromosomes

Actually, they are brilliant! After a record rainfall year filling our lakes, between El Cap and Hodges ...

Re: El Cap 3/5 cure for bass thumb

Moose wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:02 pm Bait was pretty consistent at 20ft throughout the lake. Other than the guy throwing the 10XD, the only other fish I saw caught were in the sticks, shallow. Water temp was 62. I was expecting a much better bite than it was.
At 62 degrees..the fish might have something else on their minds....

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

Winter is about done, as soon as the seasonal creeks stop flowing the lake will only get lower...! Don't forget that the City and Water Authorities say that the reservoirs weren't built for fisherman! No kidding! But since they've dumped over 15 billion gallons of water into the ocean this year ...

4lb test...reminds me of the old days at San V with crystal clear water! I feel like throwing 8lb these days is light. Good job out there!

Different week, different pattern!

20240308_085935.jpg Fished my hometown lake the last 2 fridays and ended up with 2 very different patterns. Last week I was catching them on the outside of the stickups, today they had moved to barren flats. Last week was pre-front, today was post-front, with a 2' rise in the lake. This time of the ...

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

I imagine the people who managed these reservoirs when they were built didn’t have the same worldview as the people who manage them now. The people running them now are more concerned with what kind of stick figure is on the bathroom doors at the reservoirs instead of how much water is in them ...

San V...must be Monday!

I've missed my San V Mondays! I got to the lake in the dark, who invited all these people? I'm thinking there's some pre-fishing going on for the tournament this weekend! The water is probably up 20' from my last trip here, now I know where my Sutherland water went! The first couple hours were a ...

Re: San V...must be Monday!

Thanks for the report, did you notice the water temp toward the end of the day, how much did it go up in the shallower areas? John and I are heading out on Friday and I'm wondering if we should do San V or El Cap.

I was mostly on the main lake, didn't go up Toll road or Kimball...at 2:00 I still ...

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?

I would like to know who uses the excuse "Southern California is in a drought and water needs to be conserved." Clearly that isn't the case anymore not because they are draining the lakes because the "dam is too old to hold." If it was such a real problem, they wouldn't continue to build sardine ...
