Hi everyone,
Here's my report of the day. Woke up and was moving like a man of a much more advanced age, so it took more than the usual cup of coffee to get myself in the truck. Got on the water about 30 minutes late, But it still was dark and strangely cool out. Pedaled over to Hauser, with my ...

Great Early!
Got on it early with a spectacular lightning show motoring out in Hauser. The pics don’t do it justice! Anyway as often happens with approaching storms, the bite was good. Got first and biggest fish on a new 4 bladed white spinnerbait, followed by more on flukes, splitshot worms deeper, then the ...

Re: Slow and Hot 8-30
Thanks for the report John. I was wondering how the extreme heat, full moon, and tropical storm were going to impact things. Hopefully their lack of appetite means they will be extra hungry this Saturday! Because our crew doesn’t have many tricks up our sleeves :)
Hey Shawn…I might bet the farm ...

Re: Slow and Hot 8-30
Hi John,
I couldn't make it yesterday, I had to actually work.
I'm going to try vertical jigging in deeper water. In the main lake it's 100 feet deep and there's a thermocline that seems to be holding bigger fish. I'll let you know, but I'm still chasing the busters, because that's the most fun.

Re: A bit different today! Sept 2
Hey! Was a lot of fun hearing your kids tell us about their day when we were cleaning up after a fun day of fishing. Those two boys were so stoked and it takes me back to the times my dad took me fishing as a kid. I still feel like those two boys did after a good day of fishing (heck, even a bad day ...

Barrett report September 9th
Hello,
Here's the update from me for September 9th. Got there right before sunrise. Slight wind from the north and about 70 degrees F. Water was also cooler at 76. Did the usual poking around heading towards Hauser. Did something I have never done before at Barrett and caught a fish on the very ...

Barrett report September 13th
Hi everyone,
Quick report today. Got there about 0530, it was a little cold out, but when I got to the water, it was down to 74.3 degrees F. Went straight to Hauser, since I'm headed there anyway, over in Becky's cove picked up two on poppers. Rambled around on my way to the back and picked a total ...

Barrett report September 16th
Hi everyone,
Here's what happened at Barrett today for me. Got there about 0515 and in the water by 0545. Air temp was 60 and the water was 73.4, which is certainly cooler than you'd think for this time of year. I thought about it and since the lake is maybe 25-30 feet higher, maybe it's a better ...

Re: Best. Day. Ever. (Aka Sept 17 report)
Thanks for the report Shawnster! Great job on recording your catches too - Looks like those big fish really like that Alabama rig. I'll have to try that out next time. Also, looks like it was a good move not bringing along that other Gooning guy that usually joins you... he must be scaring off all ...

Re: Barrett report September 20th
Similar to your report Dave, I did get 4.7lb on a jig and 3.2 on flukes. Ended with 7 bass, cooler weather definitely effect the bite.

Re: Barrett report September 20th
I was there. We did pretty good. 50 fish between two kayakers.
Lots of solid 3 lb fish. Biggest for me would be a 5 lber followed by a 4.
A Rig and glide bait.
The bite has picked up for me since last time I was there.

Barrett Report May 1
Well, made it to the opener and saw several pals. Headed out at something like 0415 thanks to Jose letting us get going early. Water temp was already 67F and wind was calm. Chuck (619Bassin) and I headed out together and were planning to go back in Hauser. I developed rudder trouble with my kayak ...

May 12
Made my first visit to Barrett on Sunday May 12. Got to the kayak launch area at 4:30. The fog on the lake made visibility poor in the dark but it was getting lighter and lighter so it wasn't long until I didn't need my flashlight. Headed to Pine Creek to start the day, and per the recommendation of ...

Barrett Report June 1
Got out early morning as usual. Quite busy on this Saturday, but great to see a bunch of friends. It was warmer, but not warm. Water temp was 70F. Pedaled over to Hauser and started catching 2 pounders on the popper and the 110 jerkbait. Got a lot of short strikers on the topwater. Over to Becky's ...

Re: Fishing identity crisis + report for 6/2
1. Don't use swivels direct to your baits. Clips are for hard baits that already had a split ring on them, swivels are for carolina rigs and that's about it when it comes to bass fishing.
2. Your gear matters a ton but that doesn't mean you need to spend a ton and it doesn't mean you can't catch ...
