Caught 8 fatties at El Cap today. 2 on my trusty standby jig:

It's a 1/8 oz. green crawfish Bitsy Bug with a green pumpkin Z-Man TRD Bugz trailer.
All the rest were caught on this, which has become a favorite and I have caught a lot of fish on it in all San Diego lakes ...

Re: El Capitan baits 4/19
Dan, I'm just starting to use softbaits a little more, thanks to @EL_prowler_619 and his lizard magic and @Pourboy and his patient jig teaching, so seeing the details really helps. Thanks!

Otay baits 4/20
6 total bass today at Otay, and five of them were courtesy of this:

It's a Diawa 3" TD Minnow, and it has definitely become my #1 jerkbait for BFS fishing. It has great action and casts a country mile. Most fish hit a twitch twitch pause retrieve, while two hit it on ...

BFS topwater at Murray 4/22
Caught 11 topwater bass at Murray early this morning on this:

It's a cheap Tsurinoya 60f topwater walking bait I got via AliExpress. They were really cheap, like $2, but who knows how bad tariffs are going to effect them.
Now I'm not gonna lie, most of the bass I ...

Sharing favorite finesse topwater baits
Hello, my name is Dan and I am a topwater-aholic.
With topwater action soon getting ready to start in earnest, I thought I'd share the BFS topwater baits I have great success with. All of these are thrown with BFS reels. The rods vary depending on lure weights (as described below). Additionally I ...

Murray BFS 5/8 bait
Nearly all 14 fish today came courtesy of this Sixth Sense bluegill colored crankbait. They call it the pressure series and it is the deep diving model. It's been working well in all the lakes I fish and I can easily throw it on my light rods. They really hammer it.

Re: Murray BFS 5/8 bait
It dives 7 to 10 feet. There is a lot of elephant snot on the bottom of Murray right now, so I generally use my fish finder to position myself over 7-10 feet and slow roll it on a straight retrieve Just off the bottom. I can feel it vibrate easily on my BFS rods and it seems to soul pretty easily if ...

On A Budget?
Coming in at $100 is this Histar Aurora Air reel paired with a Handing Magic L two piece rod. If the names don't sound familiar, it's because they are straight from AliExpress. After roughly 15 trips to san diego bay, every thing has surprisingly held up very well. Can easily cast ting baits such as ...

New lures
Got in some new lures from AliExpress I'm excited to try out. 3 tiny topwaters, a 2 inch mini glide bait, and a small bluegill crankbait.
I've actually owned several of the Japanese counterparts to a few of these, and on the surface at least, these seem indistinguishable. I am actually impressed ...

Hot new bait at Murray and Otay
This is a Nage by Eurotackle. It's a 2.25 inch micro jointed swimbait. It's sinks at a moderate fall rate, so I can count it down. It twitches well but also looks great on a straight retrieve. When the small bass were busting at Murray I threw it on top of them and started a fast retrieve as soon as ...

Re: My BFS arsenal
Congrats Jwall! I have to say I use my 3 BFS's all the time now and only use my broom stick models on the big baits. Rat, plopper, spinner bait, chatter bait, frog.
The lighter stuff is easy to throw all day.
Boy you’re not kidding. Every time I switched to my other setups it felt like I was ...

Re: BFS Sucks
Now that I have been fishing with BFS I fight myself to use my normal rods that work curtain baits better. When using my regular stuff, it's like is this rod even going to bend on a hookup (They do). The BFS stuff has helped my tired hands and the fights are so much more fun. It's my new norm ...

Power BFS?
So I've seen the term power BFS thrown around a lot lately. To me it means bridging the gap between the tiny ultralight setups and traditional bass gear. I'd put my primary jig setup in that category.
This is a Keitech 3/16 tungsten jig paired with a 2" Yum chunk craw trailer. I throw it with a 7 ...

The Murray Juice 10/9
Here is a picture of the bait that did most of the damage at Murray yesterday.
It's a Rapala Crush City Ned BLT on a 1/0 EWG hook. The weight is a Nako skirted 1/8 oz.
I like to focus on rocky areas with it, but it's lightweight, and extremely weedless. You can work it over and through grass and ...

Re: The Murray Juice 10/9
It's a great way to add a jig skirt and 1/8 oz weight to a weedless set up.
