Rumor has it I am still at the back of the lake. Not true, but it took an hour to get back from the Santa Ysabel arm and I went less than half way back. Twice the lake we had last year!
I found a TW bite early! Buzz bait and Popper. Missed a couple, farmed a couple and caught 4 to 2.8 lbs. Had one ...

Still going..
The V is still going! Did a short session on 8/13 from open till about 9:30. Ended up with 9 total. Mostly smaller fish but managed to find two fish over 3lbs. As has been the trend lately for me there, shallow cover was the key.

8/17-Lake Mur...I mean Miramar
Thought about Murray, but instead headed up to Lake Miramar again for a morning of fishing with my kayak. I figured I would try to go get'em while I can because after Labor Day, there will be no boats, kayaks, float tubes allowed on the water I was told as they will be working on a big water project ...

Re: 8/17-Lake Mur...I mean Miramar
In the summer the bass have no problem chasing down a blade as they are in the shad eating mood. But if you find balls of shad the vertical works too. Traditionally in the winter months at Murray, I vertical jig a spoon and ice jigs in deep water and will be trying to use more blades this year. I ...

8/22- Miramar A.M. Bass Frenzy
Cheating on a person is bad and if going behind Lake Murray's back to fish Lake Miramar is bad....I am guilty. Headed up to Miramar once again with my kayak. It has been so much fun fishing up there and just had to go back. Had a little late start as I did not get on the water till almost 7am and no ...

Re: 8/22- Miramar A.M. Bass Frenzy
Good move going there. Hit El Cap and it was pretty quiet. Six for two of us and all dinks. Even put time in fishing my blade bait vertical.
The best vertical jigging I have done at El Cap was with under spins deep in North end around the trees years ago. Drop to the bottom and
work it close to ...

8/31- Miramar: One Last Time
With Miramar set to close to boats, kayaks, kayaks after Labor Day, for who knows how long, to work on a big project, I decided to hit it one more time. Water level had dropped since my last trip on the 22nd and when I arrived a guy pulled back too far after his buddy launched his boat and his ...

Vinny I assume you were yakking…whats your fishfinder setup on your rig?
You assumed right. For years I had a Lowrance Hook2 with a 7" screen until earlier this year.
Right now I have a 9" Lowrance Elite finder. Put a visor on it(BerleyPro Visor) to help with the glare and got active target.
A ...

Re: 8/31- Miramar: One Last Time
Any chance you know what the big project will be? Have not been to Lake Mira Mar in so long.
I do not know all the details but it is a huge underwater pipeline construction project that they say will be completed in 2025.
We will see and hope the fish like the new water that will be entering ...

9/4-9/5: two evenings at my favorite BoW
Made trips out to my favorite body of water the last two evenings. Weather was amazing. Wind was howling but it had the fish fired up.
Monday I started a little earlier than usual, got there around 2pm. There was a whole family with screaming kids in my usual spot so I decided to cast around at ...

Re: Lake Murray Mid Week 8/30
Good job, are we able to launch private boats at Murray?
Neil, You can launch a boat as the end of the ramp is about 22 feet in the water. I just am really careful when I put the boat back on the
trailer as there are rocks at the end of the boat ramp. Water is still pretty low. Always remember ...

Still picking away at the "polluted" lake
Had a rough morning...I was shore pounding and pretty much threw the entire tackle box at and was rewarded with 0 bites. Maybe I need to be more patient? Around 10 am I reluctantly tied on the wacky rig and salvaged the day with a couple.

Re: Still picking away at the "polluted" lake
In a "fake news" story on the local news, they referred to Lake Hodges as being closed to windsurfing because it was "polluted". This is not true in a number of ways including:
1. that is not the actual reason
2. it was never closed for pollution
3. it is not polluted

MURRAY 9/16
Float tubed Murray in the afternoon from 4pm to close. Fished against the tullies with some senkos, dropshot, and brush hogs for nothing… right before closing I caught one on a dimiki blade bait by the launch dock.

These are the moments I fish for..
Took a little trip down to my favorite body of water this morning, 9/10.
The conditions were kind of uncanny when I arrived at first light. Dead calm, overcast. Seems like an invitation to throw topwater, right? Wrong! Threw a variety of topwater baits and a few subsurface options with nary a bite ...
