March 22 Flyover

Fishing Buddy Dan flew over yesterday on his way to Florida. Looks nice and full. The city website said 88% as of a week ago.

Re: 2024 Barrett Lake level

There are some small lakes to the north of Barrett off Skye Valley Road, also in the photo. I am assuming these are on private property and not in Cleveland National Forest. Anyone know anything about them?

My fiancé got the 7th. Incidentally she always wins an entry in the monthly boat draws when the rest of us guys get skunked. Sent her to buy a lottery ticket yesterday too 😂

Barrett will be awesome again.
That is so tempting! Before I’m done I want to hit Baccarac, El Salto, or Guerrero at least once.

Re: Lake Hodges: Storm Fishing Plus An Interesting Story

Another great video and I knew your tube setup does everything, it’s even a floating wet bar!! Love the big catch story and how nice getting to relive that day again! So Hodges back in the day was maybe a red lake like Cap is a green lake etc. Like your jig with a hint of red with the pumpkin, I ...

Re: Storm Front

Great question! And your premise is very possible. Have a reaction lure tied on to test shallow early, then be ready to go outside in varying depths w plastics. If we are metering them out there but they’re not on the bottom baits, might pull out a deep diving crank.

What size Yamatanuki? The little 2.5” guys are great on a weedless Ned head and as a Jig trailer. The 3.5” size I think would fish terrific as a backglide like the Ika.

I bought the 2.5’s dark ...

El Cap 3-29 Report

Note to self…DON’T STAY IN A PLACE THEY’RE NOT BITING!! We started out on a crisp and cold day along the stretch I’ve been hitting and catching for over a year. And why not? Dave got us started as usual with his magic mini jerkbaits and had me down 3-0 before I decided to join in. I swear he wills ...

Re: El Cap 3-29 Report

Also - there’s a pair of bald eagles nesting in the trees just east of the dam. My last trip prior to today we heard a loud “CRACK” and we looked back to see an Eagle flying with branches in his talons, they were building their nest. Today one of them was circling the area looking for floaters ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B

To the 1 of 4 individuals who could not fish on Saturday after Friday's cancellation and rescheduling, THANK YOU!

I now am part of the 8 boats that will be fishing on Saturday, after 4 of Friday's slots were moved to Saturday due to inclement weather.

Anybody fish it this time of year? I ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B

Had a decent day fishing flylined pumpkin/purple senkos while the girl tossed reapers. Caught 25 fish between us that included a beast bluegill, a solid crappie, and 3 of the 23 bass in the 3-4lb class. The lake is setting up for a rockin year!!

MaxZmus wrote: Sun Apr 07, 2024 8:28 pm So which part of the lake were you guys assigned to?
Hauser. We headed for Echo Cove and basically stayed there all day. Not prolific numbers but breeze-protected and a steady bite. Lunch by the waterfall didn’t hurt either. Heard Pine was the best zone on Saturday.

Re: Biggest Bass of the year so far!! Lake Hodges

Gotta love Sportsman’s! Great calamari and rolled fish tacos. And a good price on the pitcher of suds too!

There are a couple of no-nothing flats at Hodges that held bass back in the full pool days. Spinnerbaits and lipless cranks thrown as far as possible would produce. Without knowing for sure, I ...
