Spooked a small one in the shallows there 2 weeks ago. Might not be as plentiful as before but there's still some in there.raindo wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 10:59 pmNot anymore. I have seen people caught 2-3lber few years ago, but I think now they are long gone.

Re: Wild ride at San V today
Time to bust out the trout rods with 4lb and start hucking tiny rapala shadraps again or start trolling

Re: Wild ride at San V today
I actually spent a couple seasons back in the 80s, trolling shadraps with leadcore, mostly 35'-50' deep. I caught alot of nice fish, but it was just too boring for me. I just wasn't cut out for trolling, I had more fun throwing spoons and chasing busters in the fall.
I still prefer to troll ...

Re: War mouth sunfish
They may not be exactly the same but they sure do act the same so I will be wrong when I say it but hey, it could be a hybrid now.

That's where I caught them before too along with bass up to 5lbs. This was before the housing development and horse corral was built but I'm sure they're still there because I saw some little ...

Re: South Bay 11/13
Nice job! I usually do good on the round jig heads and wham style jigs. If you want to catch a bunch of big bones like that go paddle around the Quivira basin in Mission Bay close to shore near all the boat slips. Have caught 5-9lb bonito there like it was a wide open tuna bite

Re: Go to bait
It's too bad the senko's and ika's are made with a lesser quality plastic yet you still have to pay more. One little dink bass seems to destroy a senko when before you could normally catch 3-4 on the one plastic.

Re: Oxbow Fishing the Colorado River and Lake Mohave
I know which spot you were referring to when you said it had a launch ramp. I went out there a few years back once and was surprised how many people fish that section. I wish I had brought my float tube but I figured the current would be a little strong for me to stay in one area but it looks like ...

Re: Keeping Mackeral for a few days.
Toss them in a ziplock bag and throw them in the freezer, catfish will find it eventually if you're not in the same area saturated with other "non-lake" stench

Re: California Boater Card
After spending many years working on and running boats, I’m somewhat glad they require this. Even though most of the test revolves around life jackets. There are A LOT of people that don’t know the “rules of the road” in navigable waters. The test just touches on them but it’s good. No where near ...

Re: Fishing Mission Bay - Tips & Tricks
This still works great as it is still a relative guide to use if it being in a kayak, float tube, SUP, rental boat or a friends boat (who doesn't have a good FF);

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?
I think it's more on the lines of moronic. Who ever is in charge of these districts clearly is missing a couple chromosomesJWall wrote: Sat Mar 02, 2024 7:45 am Wow. The lake and water management in this county is appalling.

Re: Lake of D & K: Where did the water go?
I would like to know who uses the excuse "Southern California is in a drought and water needs to be conserved." Clearly that isn't the case anymore not because they are draining the lakes because the "dam is too old to hold." If it was such a real problem, they wouldn't continue to build sardine ...

Re: What knot is the strongest for minijig
If by the improved Uni you mean the Fish N Fool knot, 3 turns is lower than recommended. 5-6 is needed to ensure maximum strength. https://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/fish-n-fool-knot . I don't know what a 2X2 knot is. Again, if your line has a curly tail to it, it means that it broke at the ...

Re: Anybody ever use this Frog Togg neoprene boot?
I've had these for about 3 years and they have held up very well and are really comfortable. I hike in them a lot when up in the Sierras and or down the shoreline with the tube on my shoulders;

I've caught 5-8lb bonito in there before on top water while they ran along the rocks next to the bank but that was during the day when they schooled up a bait ball

Re: SD Bay 6/21 Epic
I was out at Zuniga that day and there was an absolute zero bass bite there which was strange, especially with 4-6" anchovy in the bait tank. Looks like they moved further into the bay or more than likely your mom keeping you happy

Re: MB 7/6
I think I've only fished along that area 1-3 times in the last 15 years. If you can make the run up to LJ, do that next time. Not to say there aren't fish in that area because I have caught calicos, barracuda, halibut and a thresher but there is much better game up north
