Coronado 10/12
The Mrs. and I took out the new raft for the first time on Saturday. Steady action all morning on crankbaits and blade baits. We ended up with 30 fish which is pretty darn good for us. I’m going to be adding nav lights soon. I have a couple buddies at work that love to shore pound the bay at night ...

https://youtu.be/dhwYxyoPE6A?si=sLnKIOMO08eGGFcI
Hey all!
Headed out of Tidelands Park a little over a week ago and had a fun day experimenting with baits that I don't normally use in the Bay. Mainly I was using a chatterbait (white/char.) and a chrome blade baits. I was trying to think of baits ...

Re: San Diego Bay Fishing- Tidelands Park Video
Were you out there on Sunday (the 27th)? I saw somebody out there zipping around in a motorized tube. When I was a diehard tuber, I never really wanted any kind of propulsion, but you guys are making me want to motorize for when I do break out the tube.
I got a needlefish out there as well. Haven ...

Can we talk restrooms?
Couple of things.
If you fish the Coronado side, you may find yourself needing to access a restroom, after driving over the bay and drinking two cups of coffee. Some of the restrooms in parks don’t open very early.
Okay, down in the cays area, check the map for 101 grand caribe causeway. This is ...

Party crasher
I had a good spotty bite going and then this guy decides to horn in. Too big for the net, too big for the tube, had to kick to shore just to land it, probably took at least an hour just to land. Released to get bigger. Got on a 5/16 ounce jighead and 4" clear grub, 6 lb test line. 26.8 lbs, PB, my ...

Homemade chatterbait, 10lb mono.
I took me 10 tries to get her in the net. Evertime I got her head in, she would back out and shoot down. This fish knew exactly what a net was and exactly how to avoid it. I finally got her in because she was ...

Triton Lobster
My son is out for the weekend from college, instead of meeting him for dinner, I like to spend the day outside fishing. We tried something new in lobster fishing. We did a noon to midnight on the Triton out of La Harbor, a half day fishing and half day lobster at Catalina Island. Since its lobster ...

NOC 6/19
Met a couple of buddies for a little surf fishing... Ton's of small sand crabs everywhere, so doubling or tripling them up was the bait of choice...
Also tons of small BSP for the taking... We all got all we needed of them but were hoping for corbina or croakers.. One buddy got 3, and I got one ...

My PB halibut from the surf at just over 27"... I don't really fish these guys as I prefer corbina and SFC but have caught a ton of them as by-catch, but mostly non-legals... Only a couple of legals... You would be surprised how many you can catch with sand crabs ...

Eastern Sierra | June 2024
:geek: Got back from 4 epic days in the Sierras this past week. Started out fishing fishing Rush creek on my way way up to Bridgeport. Fished the section just believe Grant Lake and if you know anything about this particular stretch you know how technical and spooky the fish are in here. We stop by ...

Halibut on the fly… in the surf
Hit up blacks this morning throwing out the fly in the surf… not great conditions with very choppy surf at close tidal intervals so there was a lot of sand messing up the clarity of the water. It was also an outgoing tide which is not my favorite but it was the only time and date I could go this ...

Spotties using new technique
My right hand has carpal tunnel and it's been painful casting and stripping line for extended periods of time.
I borrowed a technique used by stillwater guys, using a floating line, long mono leader, and break-away strike indicator. The idea was to adjust the leader length below the indicator to ...

Footlong mini tuna salad!
Lots of small bonito locally in the ocean.
Troll a small crocodile lure until hooking up, put engine in neutral, cast the fly. Catch one or two or a half dozen. After a few casts with no grabs rinse and repeat.
If you fish with a light drag this size will take you into your backing.

Tidelands....a nice ride....
Great weather, tide and wind not bad, a bit of chop.
Had a full day.
There were three red skiffs, four kayaks and two float tubes pounding a certain dock...not much happening there and everyone left.
Except me...got a bite as I was leaving and hung around a while....and the USN security boat ...
