Lake Murray April 5, 2023
Murray bass .jpg The cold weather and water level fluctuating up and down has not helped the bass fishing at Lake Murray. It has been a tough bite with smaller fish as a reward after a lot of hard work recently. Good news as the action should be picking up now that we may be in for some warmer ...

Re: Lake Murray April 5, 2023
That was a struggle to pull 5 fish yesterday...lake looks great though! The parking situation is a real challenge, not sure how you would launch a boat now with the ramp completely underwater! They are pumping a lot of water down to San V now, we'll see what that does to the lake in the long run? It ...

And that's why you are a Pro Angler!

Re: San V 1/11
First of all nice job out there Moose. Catching bass in the winter is always rewarding.
And always fun to see your fish reports and pics.
Speaking of pics.......I fixed your original pics and if you go to these sites posted on SDFish, it might help you with future pics

Re: Lake Poway trout season is still on!
It's too bad the other website had to close. We do need a fishing website with no politics here in SoCal.Chatmar wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:42 am Happy I finally found sdfish.com and to see a post. I guess this new location has only 9 members. I hope all the past members return soon

any recommendations for fishing setups for trout? Might check it out soon
Mini jigs seem to work best overall for me. Get a light pole with 2-3lb test line and cast different colored mini jigs, 1/16 or 1/32 oz.

For mini-jig, is 6lb mono line okay? And any tips on casting it ...

Re: Crappy Time of The Year
Hello Family,
Anyone heard anything about the Crappie bite in any of the San Diego lakes? I live I. LA and just about all of our nearby lakes are to stained or have limited fishing access. Any info is appreciated.
PS.
It pains me that Hodges is still closed.
I used to catch some decent sized ...

Hodges will not be open until May at the VERY EARLIEST, I would expect the closure to last into the summer. The city hasn't updated the website in a while

Re: Fishing San Diego Bay - Tips & Tricks
Thanks for posting this. The San Diego bay images look like they might be lost to the ether. His Mission Bay article was posted on a different site and is recoverable. It even includes a great pdf of the bay with all the points articulated.

Re: Fishing San Diego Bay - Tips & Tricks
I saved all the images in case the apocalypse came and I had to live off spotties without the internet.
I’ll put them in an album and pm the link to you tomorrow so you can add them into the article.

4-6-23 Point Loma Kelp
Headed out to the kelp around 1030am. Got there fairly quickly and hooked up on this rock fish. Moved around quite a bit with no more bites. Got my ass handed to me on the way in with the wind blowing directly against me and while still fighting the outgoing tide. It took me almost 4 brutal hours to ...

Re: Shelter island mackerel any luck?
I hear there are some unhealthy levels of mercury in the bays so I personally would not. Nevertheless I see many people keeping the macks so I'm assuming they gonna eat it.

@admin any way to retrieve the sticky by @Tailingloop from the old SDFISH.com forum?
What was the topic title, do you remember?
"Surf Primer" something, I think?
I couldn't find it. Try to check this archive and see if it's there still:

Surf Fly Fishing Primer post from old SDFISH
The surfzone is an ever changing environment where the best locations on a beach can change from day to day, tide to tide, or even during a tide. Storm surges or heavy surf alter beaches quite rapidly. Some beaches, or even sections of beaches, will fish better on outgoing tides and others on ...

Re: What happened to the old SDFish?
Some guys turned it into a political debate platform, attacking others and such. I guess that was the main reason why the whole board was deleted by the owner.
