Re: Ammo for the season
The older I get the lite ones come out . My favorite 20 is an Italian made SXS cap lock muzzleloader . Petite and throws really good patterns of Bismuth or lead depending on where I hunt . Love it on the upland stuff . Really a different pace in all respects . Have a good one .

Re: North County trips.
Krocodile is one of my favorites . You can use the single Siwash as supplied . I use a dressed treble that I tie that is almost the same length of the spoon . Just make sure the treble as it came from the factory has the single hook portion pointing to the concave of the spoon . Less snags . 5/8 oz ...

Re: North County trips.
Ah the Krocodile…..Baja staple. I like them when the surf is mellow, if the surf or currents are ripping, they still work but you can’t get that consistent sweet spot kick. I like trebles on the small ones either a feather or blank. Chrome with the chrome foil is my favorite. I’ll like j hooks on ...

Re: Cabo Redemption?
When I lived in Virginia , the Johnson silver minnow with an Uncle josh pork rind trailer was top shelf on the Weakfish / Trout . There are some replacement types available but you don't hear much about them . Otter tails come to mind . Might still be worth a shot . WR

Re: Cabo Redemption?
You’re a wealth of knowledge Bill..Thanks for the input… What do you think about using them in the bays around eel grass or even in the surf around hard structure or kelp?…
Butch
They cast good and have a really good wobble . The action should work on just about any species . The weedless ...

Re: Shark/Ray fishing De Anza
You are near the right areas of the back section of Mission bay . I am not good at screen shots etc but the channel area north of leisure lagoon and between Fiesta Island and west MBD . You want some tide movement I prefer high going out , Lots of chum in the tide flow , note it will be moving north ...

Re: Sand Spike and Long Casts.
Sounds like fun . Learning something new / different . I have done a bit of dabbling in the long distance casting myself . There are some websites that go pretty deeply into it . I have been using mono main and shock lines connected by a Crazy Alberto knot . .040 mm diameter Suffix Siege or ...

Re: Sand Spike and Long Casts.
The spool I have now is 17lb .016 " , 0.40 mm , Siege in neon tangerine for visibility , 5 to 6 turn Crazy Alberto and have to tie several to get a nice smooth one it seems . Wet it good when pulling . When I first got into the distance casting I studied about casting tournaments and the line ...

Re: Sand Spike and Long Casts.
The Daiwa reels work very well for casting , they just don't have the convenience of magnetic braking . I haven't tried a Lexa but have casted with other well built level winds . Distance can be a problem due to the added friction of the level wind and the line guide can conflict with the shock ...
