Re: Crystal Pier 2024

I fished from the pier to PB drive today 4 to 7:00 , good longshore trough where N and S current shoved into a rip out in front of tower 23 , 1 small butt released on a drop shot fluke . Saw 1 other fisherman digging crabs further south . Lots of terns working inside the stall areas . Would be ...

Doves 2024

Opener in Ca Sept 1 . For those of you who hunt doves , Get Your Ammo Now if you don't have it . All the aspects of weather and hatch seem to be pointing to a good opener . Cheers , WR

If the tax , helps gun crime in the least I will be surprised . Our Gov is in a social class that doesn't seem to worry about crime . It will not , at least for now stop me from my outdoor pursuits . Shoot straight stay safe . WR

Re: Henshaw

Anyone that takes an Aluminum boat with a bare unpainted hull be sure to wash completely with a good detergent . Copper treated water drills holes in aluminum . Just a thought to keep in mind . WR

Re: Favorite soda

Plain seltzer water , Usually with 2 oz Brandy of choice . All joking aside. I like the seltzer with a squeeze of lime . No sugar , no salt , all the fizz and none of the additives . Have had these as my drink/soda for years . Have to admit to nursing a few hangovers with Catus Cooler and Tequila in ...

Re: private charter recommendations?

Over the years many members on the old SDFish have recommended Brothers Sport Fishing . If money is no object and a high end trip in comfort is warranted Game Changer is a first class outfit . There are so many choices its mind boggling . I fish my own boat so no help as far as experience with any ...

Re: Doves 2024

Slower than usual opener . Storm with rain , thunder and lightning moved thru the area Thursday night . Of all the birds taken only 1 mourning and 1 white wing that I saw , the others all Eurasian Collared . Had 18 birds for 29 rounds fired , not bad for an old fart with lots of floaters when ...

Re: Doves 2024

In addition to my update , The group had a very good contact with the Warden and ride along . 1/2 hour after shooting time , I was first to be checked and when asked to show him one of my shells he noticed they do not say steel on the hulls . Told him they were home rolls and all were loaded with ...

Re: It'S DUCK SEASON

Well pretty good opener . 4 to 5 bird average for the group , few less on the second day . Quality was there with Mallards and Teal being the majority birds , few shovelers in the mix as well . Specks were flying but smelled a rat on the few goose decoys we had out but they took a hard look . Fun ...

Re: California Boater Card

Take the course , Boat US , pay the 10 bucks . There are some exemptions that seem silly as rental equipment doesn't require a cert . Fine schedule if they enforce , $100 first offense $250 2nd , $500 for the third . Rules say to have card in your possession when operating . I have yet to be asked ...
