New G3 16" boats r on order for 2026 season.......stay tuned. Existing motors will be used.

Was just informed from the City that the new G3's 16" boats have arrived. They are being transferred to Barrett as you read.

I suggested they might consider selling or giving them away, way too many issues with that.....its government. They will be re-cycled.

That is funny JWall.....the rates for Barrett will be the same for the next 2 years. They will be reviewed then with the possibility of a reduction.

CDFG just announced the dates for the 2026 Barrett Fishing Lottery that takes place on April 3,4 and 5th. You can go to the office on Ruffin Drive or apply on the website under online license sales and services. This is the same program(SHARE) that they did last year. Good luck to all entrants ...

The Friends of SD Lakes seminar at LaMesa Adult Enrichment Center last night might have answered a few of the above questions. I think those in attendance might have a different opinion of CDFW now.

FYI.......Barrett for 2026 season will open on May 6th, Wednesday. Closing date is Sunday, September 27th.

Ps The rumor going around that Barrett will not be open on Wednesdays is total BS, except for the first Wednesday of the month(excluding opening in May)

Boat reservations are the same $$ as last year......$150.00 plus Ticket master fees, includes 1 fisherman....3 more may be added @ $40.00 per person. Opening day at Barrett is always the first Wednesday of May, so opening for the 2026 season will be on Wednesday May 6th. Everything I hear says the lake will be fishing really good.

Love that place......I used to live there too. Good fishing everywhere.....at least years ago. Also there are some guides on the South side of the Skyway Bridge(marinas) that take you into some of the islands and mangroves around Anna Maria Island(s) for some good snook fishing. Some of the best ...

I would only add....."don't be the ONE who blocks the launch area......unload/load and park respectfully. Good luck......the lake is in great shape and fishing like Barrett.

Sorry for the late post but I was just informed that F&G have requested 2 boats for this
Saturday and Sunday......what does that mean? Just be in compliance with the rules.....barbless hooks....no live bait(I can't believe that happens), valid fishing license, etc.

Was told by the City that they will stop drafting El Cap today. No more water will be taken at least for now. As the lake level settles they will bring in the dozers to grade the shore to improve the launch conditions( within the next week or so).

I would only encourage angry anglers to email Joe Little from NDC 7 for that piece he did on TV concerning ALL the water storage SD has......what BS.

I suggested to F&G that we harvest slot fish at Barrett and release them in SV......u may laugh but he said they have done that before. Launched shortly after 6 am....really good place to launch as the lower water level has made a nice beach. Kicked(motored) across to the small coves and rocks piles, did not take long as I hooked one that had a 5 lb mouth but that was really skinny, did not bother to weight him but I pulled 1 7 inch ...

I guess as we get older we don't stay as long as we used to? Did u have any luck on the rock wall heading back into Hauser? Great set-up.
