Re: Barrett newbie
Not to hijack OB’s reply but we have been throwing various shades of whites, pearls, ghosts, greys, silvers out there for years. See two versions here.

6/27 Big B report
Kind of a tough day at Barrett this past Saturday. Max got a nice 5.6 while I contributed a 4.2. Only 40 total between us with the versatile Max getting the majority of them. Some of the fish were skinny and definitely need more shad. Still fun on a beautiful day.

July 8th report
Had my first trip to barrett today. Started off with the whopper plopper and was able to hook and land all 5 of them. My buddy was able to get 3 on the plopper as well. My 4 were on a shad color and my buddy was a black plopper. 7 of the 9 fish were reeled in by the buddies daughter so that made it ...

July 11 Report
Fished from 5am to 11:30 today on a rental boat. I was out there looking for a big bite so in fairness to the lake I wasn’t chasing numbers. I threw the Deps 250 for 2.5 hours in the morning on secondary points in starting in Becky and back into Hauser - no takers.
I started throwing the keitech ...

July 15 report
18 LMB, almost all on drop shot. All about .5-1 lb range. Float tubing. Bite just died about 11 am.
Car thermometer read 103F when I looked at it at Lyons Valley Road on about 2:30 pm. Stopped for ice cream in Alpine.

July 25th trip
Back to Barrett with the boy and it was hot! Got there a bit late around 6am. Picked a boat and away we went deep into Hauser. Drifted around for a while trying to figure it out and settled in a weedy area surrounding by stickups and it was fairly steady...picking away at em...had a couple blowups ...

Re: July 25th trip
I am addicted to that late evening bite. So many times on my way home, after Juul is out rounding up the fishermen, I will stop at a few spots on the way to the dock and hook a few nice ones. And many times my count is 49, or 39, or 29, and I just need that next 1 or 2 to get to 50, 40, or 30. Kind ...

August 23, Sunday boat
My buddy and his son went out Sunday, Aug. 23.
They had a great time, given this is their first Barrett trip this year but fished for many years. Dad says it’s been one of the better trips.
Maybe partly because there’s hardly anyone fishing so less pressure or just being at the right place and ...

Re: August 23, Sunday boat
Maybe it was the full moon 🌕 today 8/29/2026. Fished from open to about 11am. Only got about 7 or 8 and they were still dinks and skinny big heads. A few on the spinnerbait and Sammy first thing in the morning. Then a few on jig head minnow and dropshot to round out the rest of the morning. Only saw ...
