8/13 Tube

In line at 3:30 Dave and Chuck loaded and gone at Pigs. I take a while to pack the tube. Did my usual to get the skunk off before I set out, used my same texas rig from El Cap except no barb.. Lite wind already, headed across the lake. Topwater I had blow ups no solid hook ups, throwing the TR after ...

Re: 8/13 Tube

Nice report Dave.
Our decision to go back of Hauser was a good idea, we found them on top water. I was able to get them with the frog, a 4 and couple of 3s, popper , plopper also produced but some of the bass was paper thin!
That was the worst wind I’ve seen there, especially at 10am! Usually it’s ...

Bass Camp Open for Business 8-30

Barrett is such a great fishery that its ideal for learning new or polishing up unused presentations. That’s certainly been the case for our boat in 2025 with jig n craws so we decided after watching young legend Theo drop shotting with success and DFishin also amassing numbers doing similar, to ...

Hit it on Saturday the 13th, prepping for our 2 day charter leaving Monday on the New Lo An. Started at Pigs worked all the way down to the rocks picking up bass the whole way down.

This time we brought our lunch/drinks with us on our tubes and we stopped at the Pine/ Houser junction. After lunch ...

9/20 Big B report

Three trips to Barrett this year totaled about 250 LMB for me and Max. A little tougher today as we landed about 60 including a four pounder and a three pounder. Most of the fish though were what we affectionately call jumbo dinks. Tried topwater in the morning to no avail. We got most of our fish ...

Wed 5/13

Was in line early with the usual suspects. Great to see everyone. On the water @5, cooler morning, no fog. Dave and I headed to Hauser, slow morning on top water for us. I decided to try different baits, big swim bait (8 inch)and glide bait. Had followers on the swim bait and landed one on my first ...

5/13- A warm welcome back

I gotta say, I was a little worried that my first Barrett trip might be a bit of a letdown. It was only going to be my second time out there, and first time with a proper setup. The expectations were gonna be sky high with the extra largemouth experience I’ve built on my tube this year. It ain’t ...

Algae blooms at Barrett and other lakes

Right now, Barrett is experiencing a severe algae bloom. While living algae produces oxygen, dying algae consumes oxygen and that makes fish lethargic and can even cause death with threadfin shad being the most sensitive species to environmental stress. Shad consume some algae (they are filter ...

Re: Wed 5/27 - What Algae?

It sounds like conditions changed a lot from last weekend. I fished both Saturday and Sunday (23-24) and it was pretty tough each day. Fished Pine one day and Hauser+main lake the other. Caught 48 total across both days, biggest was about 3lbs, most 1-2lb. Zero top water bites either day and only ...

Wed 27 report…. Cold weather.

On the water by 5, the weather was cold, fog, and little bit of rain. Lots of boaters, not many kayaks or tubers. First bass on the plopper, the rest of the day was all top water for me, got a couple of busters. Biggest was @2 lb. Ended up @ 15, the cold weather didn’t help much. Left @ noon and the ...

Steady Morning Pick on New Technology

Got out early for a very pleasant morning temps-wise. Had initial trolling motor/remote issues with a newly installed Smart Head conversion and once that problem was solved, got on the fish quickly with a popper biter. I had a little ground to make up as my buddy fished on while I was cussing and ...

Back to Barrett 6-21

Like a few others, I went on Father's day with my son! (He doesn't fish much so it was his gift to me) Took the canoe and the wind got the best of us...also there was a rest stop beaching event where I may or may not have ended up in the lake...my gift to my son...

Anyway, he caught the first fish ...

6-24-2026 report

Fished from float tube, launched at Pigs, fished 5 am to 6:30 pm. Got 27 bass, only 3 over 1 lb. Got as far as the west end of Becky's Bay.

Started with a 5" Senko but missed a lot of bites so switched to a 4" swim Senko (the only ones I had that were 4"). Also got plenty on a drop shot with a 5 ...

Windy Short Sunday 6-27

Put in 5 hours from 5:30-10:30 when dealing with early winds and afternoon to-do’s sent us packing. The first 3.5 hours were consistent bites on our swim senkos, doubletail hulajigs, minijigs, senkos, and micro chatters. Caught so many on my swimsenko in two trips that the hook snapped in the middle ...

Sat June 27 + a serious question

Hopped on a boat with three other friends. Went to pine. Shocked at how low the water is compared to April. Top water was fast and furious from 5-6:15 then dead stop.

Tried many things after that including swim baits, jigs, crank baits etc. Ultimately we had to resort to the dreaded senko.

Main ...

Re: Barrett newbie

as described, you are well prepared. crimp your barbs. look for rocky points and fish in the 15-20 ft range to avoid moss. small light colored keitech minnows and 1/20 oz trd ned rigs have been doing well for us lately. benefit of those is bluegill and crappie will go after them also.
