Re: Wed 7/10 scorcher
Glad you made it in seeing as you stuck it out till noon. I left at 10 and the wind was sending waves over my bow. Managed 14 on my usual, and only 2 drinks on popper.

Re: Wed 7/10 scorcher
I had to leave at 0900 and it was already hot and the wind was starting. Fishing is tough, with water level, turbidity ( mostly algae bloom, I think) and the wind seems to be coming up earlier.
Thanks to Chuck finding a pattern with the crawlers, I got a few also. The popper, wakebait and walking ...

Barrett Report July 17
Well, more of that early morning wind from the west. Started out with Chuck and Steve right on time at 0430. Wind wasn't as bad, but certainly noticeable. We all headed more or less to Hauser, but I got tired of the wind and went to the calm side of the main lake. Mix of poppers, whopper ploppers ...

Only thing that bums me out is I made a little rod holder that I left on the boat. Definitely going back before the season ends

Barrett Report July 20
Got out nice and early as usual. Air was warm and so was the water ( 81F) with a light normal wind, instead of the annoying strong early winds that have been there.
Pedaled over to Becky’s cove and found the usual friends there with the usual popper. Took a page from Pourboy’s last video and decided ...

Wed 31 report
Got out with the usual suspects, Dave and Steve. Much cooler than last week, 53 degrees, last week was 71 at 4:30am. Water level continues to drop, which could have caused the morning bite to be slower, that and the cooler weather. Did start to catch them on top when daylight came, a couple of ...

Reaper boy strikes again (report for 7/28)
We got a full 14 hour day in on Sunday. A great day with 46 between us (you know, the same number that some of you catch individually when you haul your fancy kayaks out of the water by 11am). :o
Theo caught the biggest fish of the day before we left the dock at 5:30am. No scale, but this one was ...

Barrett Report August 3
Hello all,
Well it was a toasty day on the lake yesterday. Reasonable at predawn of 70F. Unreasonable at a little after lunch at 107F in my truck, cooled down to 99F driving. At 0430 water temp was 78F. Without a moon, it was pretty dark at that time and the sun isn't really doing much until about ...

Barrett Report August 10
Hello all,
Got out at the usual time, although it's staying dark for a while now. Water was 79, the air was still and pretty warm. Buzzed over to the other side of the lake and starting casting the pompadour at the shoreline and got the first fish at 0440. My nighttime photography skills are ...

8/21 top water fun
Usual time with Dave and Steve, warm morning, bite was slow, could be because of the full moon or lower water. An occasional busters, but not like last week. Finally found an area back of Hauser which produced consistent popper, crawlers action. Most were averaging 2-3 lbs, ended with @40, left @1pm ...

Barrett Report August 28
Got out a little later yesterday. Chuck and Steve were already out there. Water temp dropped a bit, started the day around 75F at the surface, air was a touch chilly, maybe low 50s F. Slight wind from mostly east. Went over to Becky's cove and pounded the shoreline with topwater to minimal response ...

Re: Barrett Report August 28
The cooler air temperature had something to do with the slower top water bites. Did get 4 on frog early, ended up with 25 healthy bass, crawler and popper worked well with a pause

Re: Barrett Report August 28
Hey Shawn, sorry I missed you out there. It was nice to meet you all last week.
It does seem like the wind peaks around lunchtime and then it's better in the afternoon. I think you are correct about the baitfish. I see small numbers of 1-2" shad in the shallows, but failed to locate any major bait ...

Fishing for Quality 9-1
After consulting the regulars and reports, the plan was to go deeper for more quality over quantity today. Brought my floating Garmin Striker to watch our depths and it definitely seemed like the fish in 15-20 were better. The calm glassy morning in Pine kicked out nice ones mostly on 4” senkos. My ...

Barrett Report September 7
Got out a little later today, since the bite in the dark hasn't been that strong and sleeping in seems like a good thing. Air was 74F, Water was 78F. Light wind coming easterly. Played about in Wilson's creek and didn't have much topwater success. Managed to lose a pompadour lure though. That's two ...

Catchy Saturday 9-14
Quick report and sorry it won’t help the guys today. Slow senko morning for us in Pine at previously good spots. But there was a pattern as we came across Dave Early Release and he was slaying them on jerkbaits. We flipped over to Hauser about 9:30 and worked the banks for schoolie sized biters all ...
