Nice Bag O Bass!
How much tackle do we have and keep buying? I know it's a ton. The crazy part is I keep going back to the same baits, only utilizing less than 5% of what I have. That's being conservative =/

Re: 9/5-SD River- "Oh yeah.. Again!"
What are you horsing those big fish out with... straight braid??? Extra Heavy rod?
The two rods I took were a Castaway medium mag heavy spinning rod with 30 pound braid and a Dobyns Mag heavy bait caster with 40 pound braid. That bigger fish was peeling out drag and going through all types of ...

First post: Four days on Miramar (12/28-12/30 and 1/3)
Hi all,
I relatively recently (late July '25) ended a roughly six-year hiatus from bass fishing. I didn't stop fishing in general, as I'm an avid fly fisherman and fish saltwater with conventional gear nearshore and within our bays from my paddleboard, but why I ever stopped fishing for green bass ...

Re: First post: Four days on Miramar (12/28-12/30 and 1/3)
Ha! No need to spend your daughter’s inheritance just yet. Aaron’s Magic and Aaron’s Magic with red/black flake both worked well for me and are usually my go-to at Miramar, but the green pumpkin/purple got the most fish for me on these particular days by far. Makes me wonder how much of a difference ...

Building back up…
Over the last week or so, I’ve been mentally prepping for some more freshwater fishing. I spent most of the summer in the salt, and after a few months away from my local ponds my confidence was really lacking. I also had a tough time justifying the extra drive time to hit freshwater when I had the ...

Re: 1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?
Interesting how bass will ignore fancy swimbaits that have been carefully designed to look like trout and other natural bait, some which cost over $100, but will eat a Senko which doesn't look like anything they have eaten. Or weird colors like junebug.
FYI, those bass have no trouble telling the ...

Re: First wild trout
Eastern Sierra (although it probably works just find other places as well) tip:
Check out maps of creeks/rivers to find the ones that have drive-in campgrounds along their course. Rock Creek and Lee Vining Creek are good examples.
Park your car at the lowest campground or somewhere nearby.

Drainage ditch cats...
Why yes, I am sorting my old photo files.
One local creek has plenty of bullheads, but never encountered a bigger cat after some 15 years of scratching around.

Same spot a year later. At first I thought it was the same fish, but it was a nearly two inches shorter ...

Monday San Vee trip
I got to the lake about 6:30am, caught five bass real quick, all males cruising the bank, so i thought I would try for a few bluegill.
Caught six nice ones .
I’ll try to post the pictures of bluegill.

Santee Lakes Bluegill Blossoming
Lately I have been visiting Santee Lakes and catching bass, but also watching the newly hatched bluegill grow from one inch to more than three inches. They always seem to be feeding on heavy concentrations of freshwater plankton and also on hatching bugs in the heat of the day. They are usually ...

June 1st— San Vee trip
Can’t beat the gray weather, I arrived to a lite crowd. The fish were hanging in the same areas.
Largest one 2.15 lbs, a lot of very colorful specimens.

Re: All set
So with these high end tubes, what’s the reason for not building out a kayak for roughly the same cost? Why give up the extra maneuverability of a yak?
I can only speak for myself, but I like the feel of fishing from a tube better than fishing from a kayak. I may not be able to go as fast or as ...

The attacking is already starting. Just leave it in the past and get over it. Anyone can guess why the site is gone and we will probably never know. Keep it neutral and move on. Bashing has started. -spilt milk, water under the bridge… If someone sees that there is all ready badmouthing against them ...
