Mission Beach 1/10

Oops, meant to post this a bit earlier.

Nice conditions with the outgoing tide this morning at Mission Beach from 6:30 until about 9:30. Light current, smallish waves, calm tide and almost no kelp/grass. The bite died off hard around 8:30 but I had a pit stop to make on the way home so I spent an extra hour enjoying the sun that had finally warmed up the sand.

It was COLD walking back and forth from my setup and the water!

Kind of a strange session; the bite was steady for the first couple hours, and I caught 9-10 perch, but other than a few of them they were SMALL. As in, 2” or so. I’m normally good for one of those over a morning, but to pull in 5-6 of that size was odd. It made the 6” perch feel like monsters πŸ˜‚

Up here in the South Bay, I was catching mostly "aquariam-size" perch over the fall. I tried different beaches, but it was always the same result. We should have some pretty good fishing when summer rolls around. Hopefully, the same will hold true for your neck of the woods, Jwacky. In the meantime, I'll be switching to my LCs and Shimanos to ward off the little critters. Tight lines to you, and thank you for all of the reports!

You know, that had never really occurred to me. Just put the hook back near the dorsal fin and huck it back out there?

If not halibut, it’d be funny to creat a perch nesting doll situation. Perch stuffed perch 🀀
