An El Cap Kinda Weekend

Feels like spring is on the horizon.. I spent both days this weekend at El Cap. Chatted with @Early release on Friday and he mentioned that he and @Pourboy were heading to Cap Sunday morning. I was already tentatively planning a trip there Saturday so I'd get a chance to scout a bit.
Saturday started with a small crankbait fish on the second cast on BFS. The only non keeper of the weekend. The next cast I hooked up again but was doomed to the rocks with 6lb test on a BFS rig. Managed a couple crankbait fish and lost 3 fish and a couple more baits. Lesson learned, bumping the BFS rig up to 8# test for Sunday. Reaction bite slowed down and I started throwing the dropshot. Immediately paid dividends and fish were better quality than the crank eaters for me. Finished the day with 5 landed and 3 lost.
Sunday I met Pourboy and Early release at first light and kicked to the other side of the main lake. I tossed crankbaits both BFS and standard size without any success for the first hour. I again went to the dropshot and it didn't take long to get the skunk off. I had a blast today fishing with the guys - super grateful for the tows - it was really fun to get to fish areas that are typically out of kicking range for me. Meeting and getting to fish with people I've met through this community - especially when we're all catching like today - has made some of the coolest experiences for me.
Ended the day with 5 landed and 1 that broke off in the rocks. It feels like the cork is about to pop down there.
