Barrett Report September 11th

Post by Early release »

Got out on the water a little later. Steve had already gone and Chuck was loaded up and ready to go when I got to the parking lot. Much cooler yesterday morning. Actually needed the pullover. Light wind from the east with occasional breezes. The water was down to 75F at the surface. I headed to Wilson's creek and had a lot of fun with the pompadour, but like last trip, I couldn't get anyone big to bite. See first picture, that's about what I got. But to their credit, what they may have lacked in size they made up for in anger. I should bring a go pro, because that pictured bass actually hit the lure on his way down. He attacked the lure at least three times and the last time missed it completely and leapt out of the water, he somehow got it as he was going back in. I was just enjoying the show so much, I almost lost him because he then swam straight at me.

Found el_prowler_619 in Hauser and we tag teamed along, he's definitely got that lizard down and does some excellent work with it. We found some fish in the big opening of Hauser and had a good time playing around, he went to the south side and shore pounded, I went to the north side. Found Chuck and we went around to the back, but there wasn't a lot of activity at that time.

Overall, most of my fish came on the SC shad and the #5 Rapala. I only got two fish on a popper and for topwater, it was the crawlers. Big fish for the day was 2 pounds 11 ounces, so I was lacking in the big fish. But I think that was me and the BFS tactics. I know some of the guys were getting 3+. Overall a really nice day and a lot cooler. Maybe low 80s at 1200. Water temp up to 78F

This size fish is a lot of fun on 4 or 6 pound line

Awesome report brotha I enjoy how very detail you are on your reports, I was shocked you only got a few hits on top water but I didn't see too many blow up... that pomp is legit, I wasn't able to use mine this time hopefully next trip I will....
Cant wait till next trip
