In a past life, when I spent many days aboard research vessels, we deployed one of these sensors near the northern Channel Islands in cooperation with Oregon State University. Fun to watch so much chain leaving the back deck. 😁

Not shore fishing but close. 50 lb yellowtail off Crystal Pier.

Too bad the weren't around during my stay over Memorial Day... Heck, i had trouble even catching BSP.. But, I think I might of been in a wee bit of trouble hooking a 50# YT with a # 8 hook and 4# leader. :evil: ....
