Started fishing about 0630 and no bites until 0645
Got a small bluegill on topwater which a heron boldly came up and tried to take from me as I was grabbing the leader. One other small bluegill plus a couple of missed blowups on a popper. So after an hour I switch to subsurface bugger like pattern with the intention of imitating dragon fly larva and fishing with a quick retrieve to try to entice some bass. That worked better and brought in 3 ok sized bass and another dozen+ bluegill of various sizes before quitting because I needed to be somewhere else.
Again fishing a bamboo rod. Fun stuff. Is it any more fun that graphite or glass? Nah, but I like the slower bamboo action at times. And I like the bend all the way down the rod.
For reference, the cedar wood grip is 6" long. The second trim wrap (past the writing) from the front of the grip is 14 1/4" from the rod butt end cap.
- Fun sized bass. Three of these this morning.
- Average sized bluegill for today.
- A bit larger one with some nice color
