Went to a guy's weekend in Yuma on the river. Had never experienced that before! So much water movement and so many boats flying up and down the river. Was fun but I don't know why I thought It would be an easy place to fish with the current kicking at about 15 mph haha! Tried jerk baits, drop shot with almost an ounce of weight still couldn't get the bait to the bottom. Skunked! Guys caught small mouth there the day before but they were using live nightcrawlers and with less boat traffic than on a Saturday. Sunday I had the opportunity to fish Squaw lake. What a beautiful place! So many bassy looking areas with trees down and structure all over. I eeked out three at Days end. Had to get back to San Diego, 3-hour run through that windy pass on the way back. Anyhow had fun, caught them on green pumpkin senko's and one on a fat margarita mutilator straight tail drop shot. Unfortunately I only got two of the smaller fish on film! Too excited to hit record haha.

The river definitely has a learning curve but always fun . If you got a 4x4 or good off-road tires Taylor lake in pachacho is a good kayak lake .

Definitely worth the adventure to picacho at least once in your life. You can make it in 2wd.
Squaw is awesome. Some will knock it hard but a flylined, weedless night crawler in the tules can absolutely kill bigger bass as well as fishing a live bluegill under a float. It’s legal down there. There’s some pigs in the river.
