Much better conditions at Mission Beach with the later low tide. 6:15 until about 8:00, six perch total. Most mid size, a couple finger sized. Lug worms were the easy preference for the fish. Mussels got some nibbles but only one actually caught on them. Interestingly (or not, I’m not sure if it means anything), all of the perch I’ve been catching the past couple weekends have been male.
Currents were more mellow than yesterday as were the swells. Not to say they didn’t exist but they were much more manageable than yesterday’s fiasco.
No pics but the real treat was a beautiful purplish sky with the sunrise. Glad I was able to snag a couple hours of beach time before Super Bowl shenanigans later today.

The fishing (and catching) sounds more enjoyable than the SB shenanigans... But both can provide some entertainment... 6 fish is a good day...

Re: Mission Beach 2/8
Thanks for the daily updates. They pretty much match my experience at Torrey Pines.
I would love to understand the vagaries of Surf Perch. Why are they on a feeding frenzy one day, and picky the next?
Where do they go? Some days constant nibbles, other days I'm lucky to get one nibble. Far out? Close in?
I love the hunt of it, but I would also love to be able to look at the weather/tide/currents and say "Oh, I know where they are"
Anyhoo, its always worth throwing out a line
