8/16 REPORT
My son Cayden and I were at the gate at 3:45AM. The gate was not opened so we got in line along the road. Made sure to have the hazards lights on just in case someone came around the corner a bit too fast. Quick check-in and made our way to the dock. We got to our first spot in the dark and started to fish the swimjig. It was slow until we could see and started to work our way down Pine Creek. We also noticed that the water level was down 3ft from the last time we were there. We primarily fished the Warbaits Choppa One buzzbait and the 3/8oz swimjig/paca craw trailer. I have not caught a fish on the buzzbait in a long time and so much fun seeing those bass explode on the bait. The bite was consistent in the morning and as the sun came up along with the wind, the bite started to slow down for us. I had a few fish on the TK glide bait and Cayden got a few on the Tyrant swimbait. He lost a good one on the swimbait, but stayed positive and caught the biggest fish of our day at over 4lbs on the swimjig. We left at 1pm with 30 fish and called it a day. We noticed that quite a few fish were paper thin and not healthy. We only fished Barrett 2x this season and did not see 1 shad either trip. Not sure what's going on, but those fish need food. With no shad, hoping they start eating some of those giant bluegill to get them back and healthy again.
