I fished south of Crystal pier a couple hours Friday morning. I found good-sized sand crabs under the pier but there are plenty of beds along the beach as well. Grass and junk were annoying, not unfishable. Small BSP were hungry, lots of action in spurts. I landed 9, most hand-sized, biggest maybe 8inches.
I surfed this morning. Wind is on it, choppy. Seems to be less grass and kelp but I was at Law street, not the pier, so not a direct comparison.

The grass / kelp , (wrack ) is annoying , the San Diego area beach grooming is only from the high tide line up during the months the grunion run and their eggs hatch . If it were not for the preservation of the grooming code , PB and Mission beach would be a desert the grunion are not the only fauna in the sand . Glad they decided this grooming process so our beaches can stay alive . Just my humble opinion . Thanks for the report . WR

Thanks for the report... Glad to see the crabs are around... I hope the salad clears up a little, even though I know it's all part of the ocean/beach life cycle... Overly groomed beaches are dead beaches... I know that from one of my fishing beaches... Anyway, I can't wait to check the PB beaches out myself.
