Sept15 HODGES

Post by 1Fishdude »

Got to the lake early in the morning along with very few other anglers. Got the pontoon set up and off I went on my quest. Since we are heading into the fall I figured I would try to catch the bass with large jigs because I know they will soon be trying to gorge themselves ahead of winter. I was using jigs with large craw trailers like rage and also 10 inch ribbon tail worms that were cut down to about 7 inches. I kept on this pattern finding deeper water off the coves and also down by the dam. All I can say is Great Theory lousy execution because I had two bites all day and being me I missed both bites. Even though I stuck to my guns for the entire session I still smelled of skunk. I wonder sometimes if I'll ever catch a fish again. I did see a few guys fishing shallow with worms and sencos catching a few but no reports of any large fish being taken.

Thank you for the update. I'm excited to get back to the home lake soon. Only a month left. You'll get em!

I'm also looking forward to October at Hodges. That lake was a lot of fun in April, I'm hoping that your theory is right and we can get some of those big fish lurking in there this fall as they pack it in for the winter.
