Backbay Report
per usual i was in the back bay dredging the bottom looking for bonefish. Its mostly turned into a joke at this point since i haven't even stumbled on 1. Decided to up the chances and got the gulp ghost shrimp and fished the main back flat on the super high tide.

Re: Backbay Report
Try the bottom half of an outgoing tide on the flats just south of the Emory Channel. 6-9ft of water depending on the tide. Had a few there today and usually good for 1 or 2 a trip this time of year. Outgoing tide pulls the warm water out of the back bay and gets the bonefish fired up. Unfortunately ...

New Low for Dolphin Half Day Boat
On Wednesday the Dolphin Half Day Boat kept 121 Corvina from San Diego Bay. They have routinely been fishing the bay this spring and have been pushing farther and farther into the back bay. While totally legal it’s a pretty embarrassing look for the Dolphin considering rockfish season is open and ...

Re: First time fishng the bays
Tidal current makes the biggest difference. Although you can catch them during all phases of the tide, the conventional wisdom is that the best bite is in the 1st hour or two after the water starts flowing after slack tide. Slack tide (whether high or low) tends to be slowest although sometimes the ...

Re: New Low for Dolphin Half Day Boat
I went out on the Dolphin AM half day trip yesterday. The trip was planned and promoted as a bay trip targeting halibut. They have been running these trips on Wednesdays.
We fished the South Bay. The boat drifted the entire day, with no anchoring or chumming. The captain stated over the PA that our ...

Variety at Tidelands Park
Floated Tidelands Park this morning from 6:00-9:00 with a steady bite the whole time. Drop shot robo worms on a 6lb ultra light trout setup was all I ended up using. Handful of spotties, yellow fin croaker, a halibut and a chunky Sargo.

New Seaforth Twilight 6/23
Excited by the recent fishing reports, I booked a spot on the Twilight trip on New Seaforth. Captain mentioned occasional yellowtail catch on fly lined sardines as stick baits. On the way to the fishing grounds, captain already spotted yellowtail action, fish boiling on the surface. I was super ...

Re: Reefy weekend over negative tide
I got a lucky streak. Went to the same spot the next day and no sheep at all.
Give it a shot man. Wading in reef is not very child friendly though so not the family fishing time..

Backbreaking weekend...
Had an afternoon and an early morning session. North county reefs. Mostly used 13 ft rod and 40 lb mainline to cast over the reef edge. #2 and #1/0 circle hooks.
The best fish is always the one that was lost. How true! This morning I felt some smaller fish biting, some were fairly strong. Then Bam ...

Sheepy weekend
Back felt better. Wrap a back brace and let's do some moderate casting in the reefs. Again lost a big one that broke my 1/0 hook, but did land a few sheep over two sessions last weekend.
Start with "barely legal"

This one is legal for sure
