Oxbow Fishing the Colorado River and Lake Mohave

https://youtu.be/p-6rxPwxobs?si=ka-kLZeLFj8VNK0Q Hey all one of my goals for the new year is to step out and try lots of new fishing spots. I headed to Lake Mohave over the Christmas holidays and ended up getting blown out for the most part, literally. The day I got there the wind was blowing 30-40...

San Vicente Reservoir 1/19 (Video)

Late report. Fished San V on Friday from 8-1pm. Water temp started at 55 and crept up to 56-57 by the time I left. Started looking around shallow for the first hour but didn't get any bites on jerk baits or wacky rigged senko's. Went back to the old faithful drop shot Roboworm and started getting bi...

Re: San V 1/29 Way tougher day

With the other 2 good reports today from 2 different lakes, I was thinking that mother nature was working her magic on the wildlife as a whole? Your lake of choice is deeper with steeper banks. So maybe the other 2 warmed a litter better with this great warming trend we are having? Anyway, glad you ...

Re: San V 1/29 Way tougher day

Nice to meet you as well Keith. It was really tough for me yesterday. Landed two and lost two. I completely understand on the boat issues. Had my starter battery die recently and luckily had an extra trolling battery to pull from to get on the water. Didn’t get much fishing done today as I was helpi...

First time at Hodges in 2024

Had an awesome day at Hodges.  Really fun chatting with Chris (AKA Pourboy AKA the BeefShaman) after fishing too. I caught three small clone Largemouths (didn't even bother with pictures), but the highlight of the trip was this dinner plate crappie on my BFS rod and reel!   https://i.servimg.com/u/f...

El Cap evening bite

After waking up and relocating my new fish finder from the bow to the console I decided to give it a spin at El Cap which has been my nemesis the last few trips there. Fished from 1-5pm. Wind had already picked up so it was fun trying to work a spot on my crappy trolling motor(can’t wait til I can u...

2/16 SD River: After the flooding

Got up this morning and went to a nice breakfast with Deb(bacon/eggs/toast...no crepes today McFish). Later, I found myself in my garage which basically means I started messing around with fishing gear to pass time. I picked up a few clones at Murray the other day and kept thinking about a bass I lo...

Re: San V 2/18 Bees, busters and Bassholes!

Good thing you managed a good day regardless of people being inconsiderate and thinking the world revolves around them. This phenomenon just isn't happening with bass boaters on the water. I call it the "Cartman-ization of Society." https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/045/495/...

Lake Dixon Weekly Update from a Bass Guy

Well our boat rental plans bombed, so chose to spend an hour on a pier looking for what is different from last week. Last week: Water level lowest I've seen in 15-years. Through clear water to about 15', nothing looked attractive at all. Skunked. Crappy trout fishing as the scheduled plant could not...

Re: C&R gone too far?

Here are von Bertalanffy Growth Curves of LMB from Sutherland using data collected in the early 1960's (LaFaunce et al 1964), most of the 1980's (Bottroff 1987) and in 2015 (OEHHA data 2016). The biggest variable from the early 1960's to now is the difference in exploitation (harvest) of LMB and how...

Badly kept secret!

Sutherland opened today and everybody seemed to know. I wrote a longer report but touched the wrong button and it vanished! Not as easy as it used to be, or I am dumber!
Short version: Water is cold, fish are in the stick-ups and seem to be few.

Lake Hodges: How many fish can I lose in one day?

Lake Hodges Fishing: How Many Fish Can I Lose In One Day? https://youtu.be/FKoe7PF1Ow0 Hey all here’s a late report from last Sunday at Hodges. I said out to just enjoy having a day on the water. It ended up turning into something bizarre. I worked down the shoreline and ended up missing a couple of...

Hodges report March 13

Here's my version of what Hodges was like today. Got to the ramp there around 0700, which feeeeels late, but really isn't. No wind at all and light cloud cover. Water temp was 61F. It was pretty well attended this morning too, there were a good number of folks for a weekday. Chuck and I headed to ch...
