San V 1/29 Way tougher day

Bluebird skies + ZERO breeze until 2:30 - an algae bloom + 20ft visibility = Tough fishing!

Hit the ground running this morning with a fish on my 4th cast of the day slow rolling a spinnerbait from deep to shallow. As it got lighter it was obvious that there was no algae bloom going on so the ...

Re: San V 1/29 Way tougher day

I remember those days when my son was younger and hooking every stick he could. Still to this day, and he’s 24, he seems to take pride in bringing in at least one limb from the bottom of the lake each time we go out! 🤣 But it always a great day when you get your kids out on the water with you!

Re: Giant Tilapia

I have always fished from the Imperial Dam up to Martinez Lake and about 30min North by boat, usually in April. Almost every backwater in between has been loaded with spawning tilapia in those areas. They spawn in the clean sand areas against and in the rules. If you can get into the various ...

Re: San V 1/29 Way tougher day

Just for the hell of it I went shallow and just kind of ran the shoreline looking around and I only saw two fish shallow in 20ft visibility. There were more shallow a few weeks ago. I was kind of surprised because the water was up to 62 later in the day.

San V 2/5 Looking for Noah

After listening to the local news last night I headed out this morning half expecting to find Noah and his Ark out there to avoid the flooding!

Pretty sunrise this morning and only two other boats out when I launched and according to the worker at the ramp they left fairly early so I was, literally ...

San V 2/8 A dirty dozen

Was shocked to see how much the water came up since Monday. I would guess 5-7ft if not more! If you are familiar with the tree on the left side of Barona Cove (not the ones in the middle of the back) it is completely underwater now. There was at least 5ft of it showing on Monday.

Bipolar weather ...

Re: Crawdads vs. Jigs: Which Will Catch More Bass

One thing to keep in mind as far as jigs and worms vs live dads is that with jigs you are covering more water than you are with dads. You are making more casts with jigs or worms so you are covering more structure and exposing the bait to more fish. Even if you are stitching crawdads, you are still ...

Re: Hand fishing for bass

[/quote]
not sure how much money you would save....or if you would actually spend more. First, you need to buy land that contains a pond, or build the pond yourself. Then you need to stock the pond with bass. Then you need to get them used to a particular feeding routine near your dock. Then ...

San V 2/8 slower day

Woke up to ice in my boat cover this morning and it was a frigid 33 degrees when I launched. Had to bust out my little propane heater to keep my fingers working until the sun made it over the hills.

Couldn’t feel my fingers so I started out throwing a chatterbait and an A rig for about 45min for ...

San V 2/15 Awesome day

Finally some shallow fish!!!

About 10min into my day my Spot Lock quit working on me so I called an audible and decided to just go shallow and run shorelines. Turned out to be the right move. Seems like these few warm days we’ve had pushed some fish shallow. Found quite a few shallow fish all ...

I fish a fish-n-ski! Careful stepping back!!!

Very True! Im trying to find a practical yet cosmetic way to fill that void in without putting a hole in my boat. Haven't found a solution yet

My first bass boat was an old fiberglass Bass Tracker fish n ski. I took a piece of plywood and cut ...

San V 2/18 Bees, busters and Bassholes!

I know I’m going to sound like a grumpy old man here but please bear with me.

To the Basshole in the white Ranger with beige and black stripes. Just because I started in the same spot you wanted to doesn’t mean you continue to roll in on me until you, literally, cast across me! Get to the lake ...

Re: San V 2/18 Bees, busters and Bassholes!

That’s one of the big reasons I quite tournament fishing several years ago. Put a few bucks and some points on the line and all common courtesy goes out the window! Now I fish for fun and it is SO much more relaxing (usually! 😅)

I’ve got about 3 weeks left of enjoying weekday fishing before I ...

Re: San V 2/15 Awesome day

The pics are deceiving. With the dropshot I am using 10lb braid with about an 8-10ft leader of 10lb fluorocarbon. I have used 8lb leader at times but seem to get just as many bites with 10lb.

Re: San V 2/18 Bees, busters and Bassholes!

Tnwoody, To be clear I’m not hating on bass fishermen, I’m hating on the “Bassholes” who show no respect to others on the water. I will throw wakeboard boats in general in there too. Some are just fine but others insist on passing by a cast away with the huge wake they throw off.

I fished ...
