Re: San V 1/8

In my experience, as long as they haven’t “bloated” when they hit the surface, and you get them back in the water quickly they will dart right back down to the bottom. The two I had to fizz, it took me a bit to get them unhooked and I, literally, watched them decompress in my hands. Their eyes ...

San V 1/11

Better day today than Monday. Day started out rainy and windy so I pulled out the spinnerbait and about 10min in I got my biggest of the day, a 3.01. That was it for any reaction bites so I picked up the dropshot and headed out deep, 40-60ft. Ended the day with 11 in the boat with at least that many ...

Re: San V 1/11

First of all nice job out there Moose. Catching bass in the winter is always rewarding.
And always fun to see your fish reports and pics.
Speaking of pics.......I fixed your original pics and if you go to these sites posted on SDFish, it might help you with future pics
that are sideways or upside ...

Moose, did you have to fizz any fish?
Surprisingly I didn’t this time. I tried to fight them a little longer and bring them up slower and it seemed to work

Re: San V 1/11

Dropshotting in 40'-60' in the bushes is a tough way to make a living.....! Are you seeing the fish or just covering those depths? 11 fish, a nice winter day

Kind of both. Definitely using my electronics to locate the bushes as well as bait and fish, but also blind casting around those depths ...

San V 1/15

Today is why I love fishing! After the last couple of trips I felt pretty confident that I had the deep bite pretty well figured out…..WRONG!!

On the water at opening. It was a very crisp 35 degrees when I launched. After a very cold run I started out throwing an A rig while I was waiting for the ...

San V 1/18

Another day, another curve ball by the bass.

On the water at opening. Thankfully it was not nearly as cold as Monday! Day started off on a not so good note. When launching my boat I accidentally went a bit too far and the boat floated off without me in it! 1st time I’ve ever had that happen ...

That is definitely something I have had happen in the past. That’s why I quit using unpainted dropshot weights. I pour my own dropshot weights so I always color them either green or brown to try and eliminate that.

San V 1-22 my bilge pump works!

Headed out onto a very rainy lake this morning with two other boaters who were crazy enough to head out into the rain. I should probably be living in the Pacific Northwest because I LOVE the rain and especially fishing in it! My bilge pump kicked on about every 15min or so pumping out a few gallons ...

LOL!! I love it!!

I only have two days a week right now that I can fish and I’ll be damned if a “little” weather is going to get in the way 🤣🤣

Re: San V 1-22 my bilge pump works!

I was actually really surprised that it wasn’t all that cold. WET, but not too cold. Thankfully there really wasn’t much breeze all day. I didn’t need to put on gloves at all which really surprised me. That suit is an insulated set so it kept me plenty warm 😊

Re: Tiny jig has been killing it at Murray.

Fish don’t see baits that tiny very often. They haven’t become educated that those little baits bite back yet. Nice work!

Re: Tiny jig has been killing it at Murray.

Big fish hunting is a totally different mind set. You have to be willing to go out and not get bites, or maybe only one or two bites in a day. For me, I just have fun catching fish, big or small. I just enjoy figuring out the bite and setting the hook into a fish.

It takes a certain type of ...

San V 1/25 Really good day!

Here is your weekly Thursday San V report. To quote Ice Cube “ Today was a good day”

Ended up boating 16 today. My best numbers there in a while. When I got back to my area I immediately saw a couple of fish breaking in the bushes, which I haven’t seen in a few weeks. Ended up getting 6 in the ...

Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing

The issue I have with all of those product videos and even most of the technique videos is they aren’t filmed on lakes that are similar to our local lakes, small and heavily pressured.

Our lakes fish SO much differently than any other lakes in the country. Our lakes are so small and pressured that ...

Re: Giant Tilapia

Lower Colorado River has some huge Tilapia in it. Their beds look like moon craters! I’ve caught a couple in the 4-5lb range over the years but there are MUCH bigger ones in there.
