South Bay Cruise N Snooze....

Wasted a good tide by fishing where the fish weren't.....and kicking across just about the hole darn bay to fish one hole....that wasn't where I thought it was.

And that was after getting lost in the fog. Moreso than usual.

But it was a nice day, and once again the homemade "whatever you do, don ...

Motorizing a float tube.

For those of you interested in adding a motor to your float tube I highly recommend Bixpy. It will mount under virtually any tube with their glue on fin mount.

I've been running a Bixpy motor under my float tubes for over 6 years now, fishing an average of 4 days per week, and it has been a ...

Re: Grease & Oil

Cals or Shimano drag grease . Blue marine grade grease on gears and for coating parts . Bearings get 0-20 oil which the blue bottle 3 in one is . . Clean and lube often is the key , particularly after a salt water dunk . Note , Cals is good stuff and I know people that use it for all grease needs ...

Re: Used torn soft plastics

Mendit “melts” the plastics together. It is a liquid and leaves a rubber like substance when dry on the bottle but as far as the plastic worm etc, it actually melts the plastic and seals it together leaving the repair pliable. You can put too much on and the tear will actually open up. I’m no ...

Re: How to stop lures slipping off hooks ?

I always dropshoting with weedless hook. My 2nd favorite is Gamakatsu widegap #2. I also use the same type as owner down shot offset hook. My worm usually soft hand pour which last one fish per worm for nose hook. I can manage a few more fish per plastic with weedless hook type.
I switch to roboworm ...

Re: BFS Gear

Really depends what spice is your target and importantly lure weight.
If you are mainly target bass and use normally bass lure down to about 1/8oz, I think L (rated BFS) or Modern ML 1/16-3/8 oz is the way to go. It is soft enough to lunch 3-4” weightless worm or 1/8oz hair jig a good distance and ...

Re: BFS Gear

For spinning, I use a 7' Shimano Crucial dropshot rod with a 1000 series reel with 6 lb Nanofil or Gliss. It casts even light weights a long ways and has plenty of backbone. Most people would use a 2000 or 2500 series reel for dropshot but 1000 is more than enough and you have better sensitivity ...

Re: So....Hover Rigs....

I have used them and with light tackle and caught bass. It is one of my "reaction baits" I talk about in my fish reports. I have not used
them too often, but I can see that with more use they can be pretty effective. I like the way the bait stays basically horizontal
which mades it more like an ...

Re: BFS Gear

From Shimano's website, https://fish.shimano.com/en-GB/product/reels/baitcasting/lowprofile/a075f00003mtn6tqac.html , under Features and Technology, they claim their BFS reel has "exciting drag sound". Might be a cultural thing

It started with 2018 scorpion bfs that come with exciting drag ...

Re: Storing gulp baits

You can purchase a Gulp pint tub (has big baits) for storage and a Gulp jar (has tiny baits) for fishing use, they last forever and won't leak. I have some Gulp screw top tubs that are like 10-20 years old.

Any bag that gets old, or leaks, the baits go straight into the tub for a soak. I ...

BUZBE Lure Sleeves

I always wanted to find something to carry a few guide type or small swim baits in while fishing in my kayak without having to lug another tackle storage box. I decided to give BUZBE Tackle storage a try. I had already recently got one of their modular storage boxes which I really like. I saw that ...

Reel Maintenance

What's your take on reel Maintenance? I have several Curado 200e series reels I recently had serviced up at Ken's Custom Reels and they were completely serviced and all bearing replaced and any issues dialed in. Haven't had a chance to fish since picking them up but seem they are smooth like new. I ...

Bass Lures

When I say taught, I mean letting the fish tell me what is true and false when it comes to manmade lures.
I used to follow the match-the-forage concept I read in fishing magazines and watched celebrity anglers illustrate with great catches. Of course, lure companies were behind most media exposure ...

Re: Inline spinner advice....

Gotta agree here with Gotfish? , the PMs are the best inline spinners I've used. With the others, the blades always seem to get stuck, but the PM spins no matter what, and I believe it causes more vibrations.

This made me think about what's special about the blade design, and if there are any ...

Re: Inline spinner advice....

I ordered up some parts and the popular siwash hook has an overly long shank, I think. This is a #6, gonna get some #8s and try again. I am also gonna make some with #4 mosquito hooks....about the same size bend, but shorter shank than the siwash in the pic.

Presenting the Patient Zero spinner ...
