Re: Still tough out on Lake Donald and Kiefer..
Nope no crazy carp spawn going on Sunday and did see a few small fish explode when cast my baits to certain areas, couldnt tell if it was fry or shad, but definitely no big shad/bass blow up seen. Appears a little muddy for that and water stil coming in around the lake.

San see 5/1/23 monday
Arrived at the lake 6:30 looked as if I was fishing a private lake, maybe 10 boats.
For a spring unheard of. Started chasing the bass, after 23 all cruisers it was time to move on,
Got on the red ear, spent the rest of the day catching them. If you like having a fish trying to pull the rod out of ...

Re: San see 5/1/23 monday
I knew it was going to be a special day, first cast was bit, then a hen mallard jumped up on the deck and stayed with me about 45 minutes.,.
We had a long talk about duck hunting I told her to stay off that Colorado river and salton sea next fall. And the guys on Noffinger rd were sky busters. I ...

May 2-Murray: Top of the Late Morning
Dang it!!! I have to tell you that I had a completed story ready to post and lost it by opening another window and not saving it as a draft.
After screaming several "special" words showing my frustration...here is the post and a lot shorter than the original which is good as many of you know most of ...

Slow start to shore pounding bass
This year has been a bit slower with the bass bite from shore. I get into a decent fish here and there, but the bite has been very slow. The minute you skip a week you may miss out.

Re: otay 4/26 Pea green soup!!!
Just tried to check the traditional Otay report from JJ and found out that the old site is gone...
I was running around the lake on Saturday and can't remember the last time I saw it that high! Might have to find a break in my running and wet a line soon!

Sweetnshore last week
Fished the sweets a couple of times last week just to get some fishin in. Not a constant wide open bite with the bites coming every so often mostly due to the fact I was using heavier gear. That overgrown brush due to the water being higher eats the light line stuff and snags easy.
Baits that worked ...

Sweet!
That is one of the few lakes I’ve never fished. Well…
not since they opened it up for fishermen to access legally. Nice job and thanks for sharing.

Donald and Keiffer stirring
Well for the first few hours it seemed like bad business as usual at the old lake. Just cold and rainy! The game plan was to throw a buzz bait through flooded brush. If that failed, a spinnerbait through flooded brush. I just knew they had to be in flooded brush! Well, if they were, they were not ...

Re: Donald and Keiffer stirring
I have very good (Luck) fishing this method at Sutherland during high water.
It is basically a heavy drop shot, I make my weights 3/4 oz from a piece of lead from a 1lb spool of hollow lead. (Main use is river drifting for salmon) cut to length and insert a swivel put in vise to crimp. Rebar hook 5 ...

San Vicente May 6
I'm new to the whole bass fishing thing so this was my first time on the water trying to catch some largies.
Thanks to VinnyBass who was kind enough to provide me with some detailed advice I felt like I knew what I was doing. Not a lot of action though but we've caught a few between myself and the ...

Sweets again 5/6
When back again same pattern. Fishing was very slow. Started off by catching a carp yay!
Carp for me is usually some bad luck so I moved to a different spot as far away as I could get from any visible carp action.
Still very slow as far as the bass action was concerned but the patience paid off and ...

Re: San Vicente May 6
These are even better IMO. Been fishing these in the trees at San Vee and Cap all spring and have lost a lot less of them.

Re: San Vicente May 6
Be careful taking advice from Vinnybass...before you know it, you'll be catching 6lbers!
I'd love me some 6lbers but I hear that San V isn't particularly famous for those. Most people there catch 1-2lb fish from what I've gathered.
Gonna have to look at some other lakes, maybe El Capitan or ...

Re: Back to Monday Fun day!
Not moving more than a 100' in 5 hours, impressive! That's spot fishing for sure. Nice work!
