Re: Lizards and top

Thanks for the report! I started using lizards this season (based on your reports) and I’ve been happy with the results! So many lizards on the rocks the bass have to be eyeing them as prey. Also, is that a pond prowler you are fishing from? We have a new one for the season! Loving it so far.

5/25 report and mystery solved

Another great day on the water Sunday. Motoring out by 6, this time with a boat rental. We explored Pine Cove — haven’t been there for a while. Finally got some top water action going with my dad’s really old popper. I feel like I know what the action should be like now. Caught both large and small ...

Give it a try… I loved stream fishing for trout, but this is kinda the same thing… Always looking for structure and moving.. I’m not much of a lake guy, and haven’t had a boat in years..So this is perfect for me…

Re: 5/25 report and mystery solved

Great full day out there!! On your line break…I personally doubt the fish bit through your line. Not a bass anyway. My guess is there was a nick in it right above the knot from an earlier catch. Nicks can happen from wood or rocks pretty easily and you don't realize it. Check the first foot or two ...

Re: New guy just trying to figure it out.

Hey Bob,

First off, I’m really sorry to hear about your wife’s health. I’ve personally been through similar situations and know how overwhelming it can be. Wishing you both strength and healing. It’s great that you’re still finding time to fish—it’s a great escape.

Now, about Barrett Lake—it’s ...

Quick 6/29 report

Spoiler alert — the fishing is good!

My son and I arrived late (~10:30) and closed the place down as usual. In contrast to last weekend when we were catching most of our quality fish along rocky shorelines, Sunday was all about finding them in the stick ups. I beat Theo 34/31, but he scored the ...

Re: Quick 6/29 report

Theo just keeps adding on!! Good job both of you 👏 It is a puzzle to solve every trip. We have been lucky to find the same lures working the last 2 trips but do not expect that to continue.

I keep looking for you out there John! No luck so far. Hope we cross paths soon! I hear the bay has been ...

Re: Bobcats, Ospreys, and Deer…and Bass!!

Nice job out there John and good to see you guys today! Me and Theo ended with 59. We had to work for them in the afternoon—the only really consistent place was where we saw you. Also noticed more birds today! Osprey was killing it. Fun day!

Worked out a family fishing day 7/20

Tried a different approach to Barrett—family outing. It worked!

Problem statement: we were a small group on Sunday with varied interests — me and Theo like both fishing and catching, my other son Julian gets bored fishing but likes catching, Theo’s buddy is a “spirited” 9 year old who likes to ...

Re: Worked out a family fishing day 7/20

How do you like that prop on your trolling motor? Thought about trying one.

The new prop is officially tested and approved. It’s surprisingly awesome. I’m getting a speed increase of 1 to 1.5 mph, with much better battery efficiency and negligible impact to torque. The only downside is that it ...
