Last week I got the first bean of the year, using SC. Most SCs are very small at this time of the year, but I was lucky enough to find a bed of large SCs. Was going for perch that day but got a beanie. Kinda small but a first is a first.

Re: First bean of the year, and some others...
The next few days I got some luck with basses, including a double. Some pics on larger ones. Also caught some smaller basses (mostly sand basses).

Re: First bean of the year, and some others...
No sheep this week. Wonder where they are... did get some other fish like kelp fish and black perch. Then I got this double. Was always a huge hassle to unhook the eel as it would just twist and twist, tangling everything - anyone got some tips here?

Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood
Got out yesterday AM to Huntington Beach for a little chasing of fish... Just an absolute gorgeous day... Conditions were excellent, with cool clear water and sky... Small surf with a little current and no wind... Tides were a bit wonky though, and the fish didn't want much to do with me... I got 2 ...

A Calamity of Errors....
....with one nice fish.
That pretty much sums up my evening on the sand.
During the summer, we go to the beach as a family every Friday afternoon with a group of other families. It's mostly just hanging out, but I always bring a rod or two so I can toss a few casts when the opportunity presents ...

Got one
Stuck a solid YFC on a clouser this afternoon in MB. Next cast hooked a ripper that pulled 30ft of line out of my hands, put a tad too much pressure and snapped off 8# leader. Been a tough winter for me so happy for this fish. Also first fly outing in months. Cheers to the new site

Sweet Success
Got my best fish of the year (so far) today. Nice 22" vina. Knew it was a vamp when it went nuts on the surface. Fly fell out of its mouth at shore. Also tagged my first midshipman and smallest halibut.

Well losing the last website was definitely a sad day for me. I had just started tying some new flies and they worked pretty well. However immediately after tying them went to post on the old site aaaaaaand it's gone.
So having it back up is nice. Tied up several fly fish food belly scratcher ...

Surf/Bay on flies
Greetings,
First time poster. I'm from Utah, an avid freshwater flyfisher. I've had a drift boat for years and love floating rivers in the west. For example, I floated Utah's Green river, streamers and BWO action 5 days in April.
I'm driving down to the SD area this weekend and would like to get ...

Lower Owens Winter Fly Fishing Trip
Euro nymphed the Lower Owens River last weekend which was super fun and rewarding. I went with the local Golden State Fly Casters club here in town and caught nearly 20 trout each day! I have a 10 ft 3 weight shadow X euro rod which helps me tight line nymph and feel every bite. I only used typical ...

Eastern Sierra | June 2024
:geek: Got back from 4 epic days in the Sierras this past week. Started out fishing fishing Rush creek on my way way up to Bridgeport. Fished the section just believe Grant Lake and if you know anything about this particular stretch you know how technical and spooky the fish are in here. We stop by ...

Re: R.I.P Pat Robertson YIKES
He did very well for himself with an estimated worth of $100M, he had a gold mine with his show. I found his predictions much more entertaining than his comments about other groups.
