San V 2/5 Looking for Noah
After listening to the local news last night I headed out this morning half expecting to find Noah and his Ark out there to avoid the flooding!
Pretty sunrise this morning and only two other boats out when I launched and according to the worker at the ramp they left fairly early so I was, literally ...

Re: Crawdads vs. Jigs: Which Will Catch More Bass
As always, great video and editing.
What's the difference between green and red crawdads? Species? Diet? Life-cycle?
Thanks so much! As far as I know the greens are juvenile and the reds are mature. At least when catching them I almost never found small reds. Not sure on what species we ...

4/15-Murray-Fishing deep session
Had some success in deeper water recently and especially on my last trip to Murray, so I decided to just fish deep and use reaction baits only. Despite the late start(looked like like rain this morning), I ventured out away from the shoreline even though it looked inviting. I searched for shad balls ...

Good morning all, I managed to get out on Lake Hodges last week and found the lake completely socked in by fog, which is not uncommon for that lake. Met up with Early Release at the launch was hoping to ...

June 1st— San Vee trip
Can’t beat the gray weather, I arrived to a lite crowd. The fish were hanging in the same areas.
Largest one 2.15 lbs, a lot of very colorful specimens.

Re: What panfish can be found in San Diego?
Color won’t matter for the most part. It’s the profile that counts.

There are Pumpkinseed in Lake Hemet and Big Bear Lake. They do well in higher elevations

Otay before Hillary
The kids have been ready for another trip since we did so well @ Hodges a couple of months ago. I've been hearing the bluegill bite was on @ Otay so I thought we would give it another try. I say another try as I've taken the kids here a few times and we never seem to have a good day. My son labeled ...

Re: Harrassed by VinnyBass' alter ego at Murray?
I have had heron and egrets stand roughly 10 feet away from me at ponds and some lakes when I catch little fish that will swoop in and try to steal them.. but I can count on two separate occasions where night herons stand 1-3 feet away from me ready for an easy meal and with that big of cajones I ...

Re: Harrassed by VinnyBass' alter ego at Murray?
So funny and stealthy. A similar thing happened to me. I was Float Tubing Canyon Lake and deep hooked a small Bass. It was bleeding badly and there was a juvenile Blue Heron watching me closely. I said “ Hey Bird you want this Fish?” He hopped right over and gabbed at it right out of my hand. I ...

Awesome Otay Morning 12/17
Had an awesome morning ultralight fishing this morning at Otay. Caught over 30 chunky bluegills. I was jigging 3 inch Yamamoto shad shaped worms and a small 2 inch sinking jerkbait. What a great time!

Clear Lake Crappie Action...
The Crappie Mecca!
Wish it was me...
Since I have nothing to report on the subject thought I'd share this really cool video of "Fishing Addict" out killing the 2 pound slabs. I watch a lot of his videos and he has that lake and live scope dialed in. He didn't have his scale. A few might had ...

Mission Bay Spotties 12/12
Had a great morning in Mission Bay today. Caught and released 11 nice spotties.
Three inch paddletails on keel-weighted hooks slowly pulled through the grass on the bottom was the ticket today. I was fishing an ultralight rig with 4 pound test, and had to make sure my drag was set well because all ...

Big Bay 12-17
Thought we’d try the opposite tide swing from last trip, low to high. Unfortunately couldn’t find a steady bite in the usual spots. Decided to mix things up and yoyo a blade bait, different from the heavier leadheads and paddle tail plastics I usually fish deep. Started getting spotty bites in the ...

Solstice Spotties no pics
4.5 Fish Per Hour.
South Bay float tubing.
The wide open winter bite is not here yet.
Got a handful of foot long spotties.
And thirty typical SoBay rats.
No bonus species.
Calm conditions helped me detect a dozen really subtle bites. Used small tube baits, grubs and even got one on a tiny spoon.

Be careful at speed in Big Bay!! Tons of debris
Most of its the nuisance size trash but I did see boards and such that would do damage to your hill and motor. That trash could stop water intake too. I had to lift up my motor to free a stick and other things several times. I heard MB was bad too.

Calico poacher
Went to one of my local little spots. Watched a guy pull up an 8” calico on shrimp, bash it over the head with a rock then filet it. Called fish and game took a few mins to get a live operator. As soon as he saw me on the phone he packed his stuff and took off before fish and game arrived. I’m going ...
