Awesome - SDFISH is back!!
Like most, had no luck with the site for a bit, and just by luck today, I searched SDFISH, and there it was!!
Having been on the previous forum for so many years here in San Diego, I've made the escape to Kentucky and am presently in escrow on a 25-acre ranch with 3 ...

Greetings all,
Having been a dedicated San Diego bass fisherman since the late '70s, I have finally escaped the beautiful Southern California weather for country life in Western Kentucky. We were able to close on a 25-acre, 4 ...

Excellent! we should have a "fishing in other locales" sub forum for people who went fishing on vacation to other regions and states, and ex-patriots who would still like to actively participate in the fishing report side of the forum. :)

Re: Poaching
DarkShadow,
Times have changed. Who fears getting caught or even tried for an offense. There is no fear for the law or regulations. He’ll get a slap on the hand and told to stop. It’s hard to not make this political.
One reason why it was time to leave.

Re: Poaching
Damn
$950.00 That's insane!
What stops a person from going into a sporting retail store and walking out with a new bass rod and reel and not paying for it? And they will claim it's needed for the sustainment of their living. My dad would beat my butt and make me go back in and pay for it. If I ...

Update as of 26 June 2023 - The pond has lots of large bluegills!
After a couple of weeks of fishing the pond, there is an abundance of bluegills 8 to 10 inches. Also, with the water level slightly down (2 feet), there are fathead minnows, and the bass are still that 8 to 12 inches. I've started ...

Up date from our home in Kentucky
Big pond pic.png
We finally made the transition to becoming Kentucky residents!! Life is a little slower, laid back, and enjoying the country life.
After adding structure to the pond and 25 lbs. of fathead minnows, there is still a long way to go in getting the bass fishery to where it needs to ...

Re: Up date from our home in Kentucky
Thanks! It’s been a new challenge. Having not retired, trying to stay ahead with 6 acres of grass cutting keeps me busy. It takes 5 hours to cut on a “zero turn ridding lawnmower”
It’s nice to see the local deer makes it presence on most nights, from their hoof marks around the pond.

Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?
Greetings all,
It's been a few months since I last posted. Kentucky country life is outstanding. It's nice you're able to fish and shoot on your property (the ranch) with zero repercussions (except scaring off a couple of the neighbor's cows).
I've stocked over 15 lbs of fathead minnows and 100 ...

Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing
Well done, Vinny!!
You and most of us are attracted to pretty bass lures and we become fishing tackle "ho's." It's not your fault brother, you're the victim!!
I tell myself that every time I go shopping for tackle (sure am glad my wife is not aware of this fishing site).

Re: Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?
I have great fishing up here in Wyoming too.....if you like trout. I do like trout and have caught 9 different species (if you count grayling and hybrids), but I still miss my SD county bassies, as well as the pan fishing. And of course, the weather back home in the winter time.

Re: Any idea what this old Swimbait is?
Vinny,
Interesting looking Osprey/Optimum swimbait. The OG Osprey swimbaits were hard baits and later Steve Harner went with soft swimbaits. I have several Osprey's and it just doesn't meet all the lines. Good question! I'm leaning more towards early Optimum Swimbait. Throw it and hang on!!

Things are coming along - Kentucky
Greetings All,
Finally got some time off to get the workshop set for the boat (picking it up next month from Oceanside), and get my tackle set up. What started as the "man cave" ended up becoming a partial "she shed/she shacks." 1/3 of the workshop is for craft storage and Christmas decorations ...

Too funny, when I lived in Oceanside, guys would come over just to hang in the garage. More than a few times it was referred to as the "tackle shop"Midnightpass wrote: Sun Feb 25, 2024 8:21 am Very nice.. Looks better than a lot of tackle stores I've been in...

Just showed these photos to the wife for comparison. See honey, I’ve got a long way to go!
I have the best wife; she just comes out to the workshop and quietly reminds me who owns the 13lb and twin 10lbs largemouth bass records mounts, and I reply, " You baby" One day I'll catch a double-digit ...
