Up date from our home in Kentucky

Post by kahuna bass »

We finally made the transition to becoming Kentucky residents!! Life is a little slower, laid back, and enjoying the country life.

After adding structure to the pond and 25 lbs. of fathead minnows, there is still a long way to go in getting the bass fishery to where it needs to be. Just a couple of days ago, I was out soaking some mackerel chunks for channel catfish. To my surprise, I kept catching 1lb size largemouth bass. It tells me I have too many small bass and need to keep increasing my minnow/shiner forage fish content, besides getting rid of the small bass.

The bluegills are big fatties. I've seen their spawning areas, and the outcome of their last spawn was encouraging.

I hope to get my bass boat moved from Oceanside in the coming months and finally get out to Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake.

Thanks! It’s been a new challenge. Having not retired, trying to stay ahead with 6 acres of grass cutting keeps me busy. It takes 5 hours to cut on a “zero turn ridding lawnmower”

It’s nice to see the local deer makes it presence on most nights, from their hoof marks around the pond.

If ever you fine SDFish members make your way back East, you’re welcome to stop by and fish, maybe even Kentucky lake (after I get my boat back East).

Thanks Alain!

Hopefully, in the coming years, you'll be able to come out to the ranch!

Nic!
6 acres is a lot with a zero turn. Time for a tractor and brush hog!!
