Big Bay Tropics Style 9-10-23
Got on it from the Natty City ramp around 7. It was calm, smooth, with a hint of tropical rain here and there. Steady spotty bite on plastics/underspins at Square Mile. Figured there might also be a channel bite and slid out to the main just south of the bridge. Instantly rewarded with a better ...

Re: Barrett report September 23rd
Hi John,
I think my techniques are what might be winding down. I'm going to try some spybaits and sinking/suspending jerkbaits. The fish are there, they just want something different. I tried a dual rigged fluke yesterday for some time and I think I'll do that again, but not the 4 inch flukes ...

September 24…Always a Puzzle to Solve
Took us till 9am ish to crack our code. Plastics bumping on the bottom in 10-15ft just outside the algae line yielded our first 8 bass. Had plans so trolled out of Hauser and got a bluegill(??) on a Rattletrap. WTF those gilleys are mean at Barrett!

Re: giant bass pictures???
Here's a 12 incher I got from Hodges this time of year several years ago. I caught it on a "glide" cough cough hahaha It was never weighed or measured, just a pic and released. The hatch lid is 18" so you can assume the length.

Based on what I call 7 inches, that things a world ...

Closing Day 2023…Steady Variety
Motored out in darkness for one last day. Warmer than expected and no rain materialized. It was cloudy to partly cloudy all morning though. Beautiful fishing conditions and we started at the same place in Hauser I had morning success last Sunday. Its like that bite never stopped and the same ...

Re: A little El Cap action....
Hey guys, since you are on the subject of El Cap, just a friendly reminder that the lake is closed the first Friday of the month….which is tomorrow(Oct. 6).
Just in case anybody was planning to head out there tomorrow.
I have made that mistake…once. When I realized there was nobody ahead or ...

Re: A little El Cap action....
Ok, thanks for the help, I'll head to San V. Haven't seen a lot of postings on San V on this site though. Doesn't anyone go there? And, yes, I know I am guilty of not going there. :)
Light line and small finesse baits. Sometimes up tight but many are found above the structure/cover (aka trees ...

Re: Thursday on the V...
What line are you throwing at those schoolies?
20lb braid with 8' of Pline Fluoroclear. The braid helps in throwing weightless baits.
Question on the setup McFish and others…my braid to fluoro (50 to 10) is hard to throw smaller baits as the braid seems to dig in to itself on the spool and ...

Question on the setup McFish and others…my braid to fluoro (50 to 10) is hard to throw smaller baits as the braid seems to dig in to itself on the spool and I really have to wing it to get 80% of a ...

Re: 10/24 - SD River(What the heck!)
Last time headed to Alpine I noticed the Cap had dropped enough that more high spots in the launch arm were exposed. And that happened over the course of a week so it wasn’t evaporation. I cannot fathom (pun intended) why the city would do that except for dam integrity or keeping the drought ...

That is the biggest bluegill of the year, maybe all time that I have seen. Nice job with the underspin!
