King Tides Sunday 12-15
Major tide moving out after 8am but maybe the full moon overnight and bluebird skies w cool mornin noreasterlies thwarted a better bite. Started and spent the majority just south of the bridge at Square Mile and then did drifts outside the Cays and the Sweetwater mouth. Threw gulps, ned rigs, and ...

Re: Amazing Murray Story 12/27
The preceding comments were far too kind to the offended. F them and the boat they came in on. Like it would even matter. Geez

Re: SD Bay in winter
Picked the wrong spot yesterday (Sunday the 5th). Only got 16 (I think) spotties while my friends were a half-mile away roping a ton of fish. Also got a few short halibut.....and had a big one hooked for a while.
So if the halibut spits the hook and ends up foul-hooked right in the middle of ...

Re: San Diego Bay, Crazy Good Fishing!
Great catching and nice legal!! First…that vintage trap almost resembles a baby spottie with the colors and pattern? Second, butts love the smelt. A hundred years ago on the San Dieguito River just east of the race track we used to toss out bread pieces to call them to the surface and would scoop ...

I really admire your prescription to end the sufferingDannicus wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:20 am On another note, I've already ordered my replacement BFS rod. It's a Cashion Icon series purchased directly from the manufacturer. I can't wait to try it out. Now I have my eye on that new Bates Hundo BFS reel....looks sweet!

Tackle Warehouse has good ones. Big eye so they don’t hang up on the split ring.
I will be ordering as well. I found a pack of single hooks in my garage tackle store that were the right size but normal eye ...

Big Bay Sunday 2-2 Spotties MIA
Was hoping for a day like others described yesterday but no dice. Plenty of water moving but couldn’t find them bunched up. No luck on the Buts but didn’t spend much time there. Maybe better in the afternoon? When they were biters, these did the trick.

We threw boots on ball head jigs and as trailers and got nuthin. If I had to guess which of these two were bit more (or harder), the curly.

Re: What a challenge 2/11
Seriously…glad the DFW guys gave you a break. They usually don’t. Even tho I prefer the 365 day license, it does lead to forgetting the expiration easier.
Secondly, man thats a bit harrowing story fighting a tide, let alone without both fins. Glad you got back in one piece. I have had one good ...

How has Theo allowed this lack of activity?! Has he discovered girls or something else as nefarious?Shawnster wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:07 pm Thanks for the update Vinny -- always appreciate them. I haven't caught a bass in months (also haven't been fishing much so there's that). This gives me some motivation.

Re: A Call to Arms Barrett Junkies
Maybe I am looking at this incorrectly. If I look at the total number of days they are open and make some assumptions that are probably within 20%, I'd guess this increase would result in something around 50-70K total, which it probably won't. If I look at fiscal year 2025 report the budget is 2 ...
