Re: Monday San Vee trip

Stringbean wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 5:27 pm Wish I could contact fishbreath. He loves catching them.
Thanks for thinking of me. @Str8t Slabaronies was kind enough to text me. Those are beautiful fish. I have issues that have kept me off the water this year so far, but I think I'm close to coming back.

Tagging another member

I may be just missing how we do it here, but sometimes it would be nice to call another member's attention to a post by addressing them "@admin" for example.

Re: San Vicente Lake Record Redear 4.2 lbs Released

I'm honored, as you are truly the panfish master! Your experience, knowledge and information sharing over the years is inspirational to many in the panfish community.

Thanks for saying that. It means a lot to me. After a lifetime of always being the guy who never gets sick, it has been one ...

Re: San Vicente Kayak Panfish May 19

Those 10" bluegill and redears are the perfect size to harvest. They are large enough to filet, but not so large as to be taking a trophy out of the lake.

Re: Panfish Parade, San Vicente Memorial Day Weekend

Nice job as always. Really good quality overall. Any over two pounds are special. Yep, that one with the orange fins looks like a green sunfish hybrid. There seems to be a lot of them in there.

Re: Panfish Parade, San Vicente Memorial Day Weekend

I also have no idea what would qualify as a "green sunfish" - how hybrid can it be?

I miss having Queue to help us sort out these kind of questions. My understanding is that hybrids are sterile. That's why you can stock wipers without fear that they will reproduce and take over a lake ...

Can you believe it? San Vicente Jun 5th

Hard to believe that today was my first time out this year. After going my whole life with excellent health, things have gone from bad to since I turned eighty. I really wanted to get out, actually I needed to get out. I got my boat out of mothballs and found that my trolling motor wasn't working. I ...

Now I Believe It - San Vicente Jun 12th

Last week after a year of forced hiatus, I finally got out fishing and had a good day. But it only gets better, because this week I got to share it with and old friend. Like last week, it was a short day of about 3 1/2 hours. I always feel pressure to catch some fish when someone goes with me, but ...

Stringbean wrote: Mon Jun 12, 2023 3:28 pm If you keep that up your going to have to show fisheromen the yard stick you carry.
Just for the record, I do carry a flexible cloth tape made just for measuring fish. Officially the bad boy in the picture was 13.5" long with a girth of a full 15", weight was 2lbs 6ozs.

Re: Fishing up here in cowboyland

I forwarded a link to my brother. who lives in Rock Springs. You met him in the "Grumpy Old Men" posts in the old SDFish. He fishes Flaming Gorge and has a cabin on a lake near Pinedale, Fremont Lake I think. He is going to be jealous as he is more or less confined to the lawn chair setup these days ...

Re: Autumn fishing on the high prairie 2023

Well done! Beautiful fish. Forbidding country. Do you have a snowmobile yet?

Edit: Forbidding country but environmentally fragile. My brother showed me some ruts that were made by pioneers as they traveled the Oregon Trail. Much of the landscape up there has been marred by surface mining.
