Re: Big Rig Bass Fishing Part 2( video)
Love your dedication and road fishing. You have put a whole new meaning in truck stop!!
I had originally brought my gear with me to fish a few canals near Mesa, Phoenix but just didn't have the down time. I knew I couldn't make it back before running out my clock on Friday and knew that there was ...

Throwing worms at The Captains Footballs 6/30
After an abysmal Saturday at Sutherland yesterday (a handful of dinks) I thought to redeem myself at El Capitan today. The topwater bite really never got going at either lake this weekend, at least where I was fishing.
It had been a minute since I'd worm fished, so I T-rigged a 7 inch fat Roboworm ...

Hodges 6/3oWas outW
Was out at Hodges early Sunday morning to test out my newly refurbished Pontoon and to see what I could catch. I had a stellar day catching over a dozen bass. I wanted to see if my battery would hold up all the way to the dam and lucky for me it did because I was throwing an Evergreen Pc5 and most ...

Cool New San Diego bass fishing podcast
Just listening to some recorded podcasts that Bruce Smith has started. Specializing just in San Diego bass fishing. He’s got some great bass fisherman on, which I appreciate. Also, he’s covering information on the city and the county’s plans on closing some of our lakes certain days and months per ...

Pigs at El Capitan 7/8
Got on the water at 5:15 and picked up these two porky beauties in the first 30 minutes. I actually lightened the first picture. I took it in much lower light than it appears. After the second photo conditions became clear and bright and the topwater bite was kaput.

Re: Best way to catch bass
There is no *best way* brother, but being a beginner you should think about looking up Dropshot on YouTube. A dropshot rig with a 4 inch plastic worm is pretty reliable and forgiving. It's how I started my kids, and still use it myself on occasion when nothing else works. Just my .02.

Murray Giant on the underspin
Haven’t been on SDfish too much lately but I decided to post this catch. I was planning on taking out the kayak but didn’t want to go through the hassle of loading it up so instead, I went on the bank. I saw some fish busting so I decided to throw a small 2.8 Keitech on an underspin. I got caught on ...

Back to where I belong....
I finally got back to San V on my favorite day! Along with Murray, San V is probably where I've spent most of my years fishing...starting back in the 60s. I got to the lake at sunrise, headed out looking for some busters and soon found some on the main lake behind the island. They were spread out ...

Re: Hodges 7/20
Yep, just keep dropping the water level til it's just a carp pond! San Diego's specialty..trashing the City lakes! Remember back when Hodges was on the cover of Bassmaster Magazine..the good ol days of Botroff and Brown! Now we have Toad Glorious and his City Council groupies!

Hodges 8/28
Was heading over to Barrett but woke up late and since I was already packed up I made the short drive over to Hodges. There was not many people fishing and most probably stayed away due to the tough conditions out there. I made a beeline to the dam and started throwing cranks on my BFS set up. Got a ...

Fishing with dad
My father will be 99 years old this Sept, the pier is about all he can handle anymore. None the less, the other day he hung a 21 1/2" grump. Quick pic and released, gonna take him out on the boat tomorrow. Didn't mean to cut his head off :D

I saw an unusual snake yesterday
Well it was new to me at any rate. As I was coming up my drive,I saw a striking red snake. I had to stop to keep from hitting it. My first thought was a rosy boa, which I see occasionally. I quickly realized that it was too long and slim at probably close to 5 feet. It was too close to get a picture ...

Sunday May 19th
I’m sure some of the regulars had typical May Barrett days but we sure didn’t. The girl and I teamed up for 25 bass to 3lbs but it was a pick at best with no topwater or boilers to throw at. A far cry from our 44 last Saturday in a short morning session. My guess is the wind and cold, wet foggy ...

Re: Sunday May 19th
It is bad Karma to leave a fellow Waterman in peril. As I works out, I’ve helped a lot of people and am the luckiest Fisherman there is. Nothing like towing a $65,000 Bass Boat with your Hobie. Guaranteed a chance at something huge. Grabbing the trash I see, just a bonus for everybody. Remember, we ...
